I would like to know when the box offices will be opening for the theaters. There are a number of shows I want to see. I don't want to pay those ticketmaster fees on all of them.
Also, while Times Square is still relatively dead, the theaters will not rush into opening their box offices. Some of the restaurants that cater to tourists are still closed, for instance.
Why would I walk around the worst place in Manhattan? I only go there to meet friends who work in midtown and to theater, neither of which are happening currently. I watch EarthCam sometimes, like a weirdo.
These ticket fees are adding up... I'm prioritizing which shows are must-haves for good seats vs ones where if I can save the $16 I will wait to buy the tickets in person.

Uh. Take a look at the Earth Cam sometime."
Exactly. NYC is basically back full force. Even Bergdorf’s was like a regular pre-COVID Sunday afternoon this past Sunday. NYC is back. Only difference is folks wearing masks but I’m in the city several times a week and it’s back as it was pre-COVID. Subways included.

Telecharge rep said they're projecting possibly July.
Does anyone know if there's usually an announcement or anything when box offices open or is it just sort of quietly done? I'm guessing after a year of no theater it would probably be done with at least some fanfare
Announcements, yes - they almost always announce when a box office is open for business. FANFARE? Not so much.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

After looking at Telecharge and Ticketmaster, a lot of shows actually aren’t selling well at all past their first week or so of performances back. So I wouldn’t be so sure that “if you want to get decent seats for anything in 2021...” comment. :-/
When I walk around Times Square at night currently, I don't see throngs of tourists around blocking the sidewalks like they normally would. It seems deserted to me.

As someone who lives 5 blocks from Times Square, I can tell you that it's been PACKED during the evenings the last few weeks. I was actually surprised walking through it since there's basically nothing open that late, but there are tons of people milling about.
