If you go on the Hudson Theatre's website, it notes that the production will now take place from March 19- July 18, 2021. Happy to see that they are still trying to make this happen!

Maybe they'll finally refund my ticket now. My show date has passed and not a word from them.

Ugh SAME. SO FRUSTRATING! has anyone had any luck with refunds from The Hudson for Plaza Suite??

They're the one show (out of about 20, Broadway and off-Broadway) where I finally just disputed the charge with my credit card company.  I tried repeatedly to phone and email them, and after 4 or 5 attempts to get in touch (and automated emails from them saying that the tickets I bought last September might not be refunded until this August), I politely wrote them and told them that my credit card company had refunded my money and would be asking for a chargeback from them, but that I looked forward to hopefully re-purchasing tickets when they had a better idea of what was going on and when performances could hypothetically and realistically resume.  Glad they've rescheduled the production to next year, but it's true, they're the one and only show and theater (of those I've dealt with) who really should've handled this better.

My mom had tickets with a friend for early June. When the June 7 shutdown was announced, she got an email saying a Hudson Theatre rep would be in touch with her by one month after her performance date (so early July). The email she just got said ticket holders can either request a refund or exchange their tickets for the new dates at no extra cost.

I had tickets for easter weekend.  I had received a refund for every show that we had booked for our trip EXCEPT Plaza Suite.  I left multiple messages and almost a month went by after our performance date.  I finally received a voicemail with number to call to discuss my options.  Tried calling the number for 5 days before I finally got a human.  He told me that they were exchanging tickets for another date and offered up some options.  I told him that I was from out of town and that did not work.  After much back and forth, he finally said that they would refund my money.  I just received the refund on my credit card finally last week.  Almost 6 weeks after our performance date and 2 months after the shutdown was announced.  So frustrating.

That "no extra cost" email is a bunch of bunk. I bought my tickets directly from the box office a few months before the run. Last row balcony. $49 each. Apparently, after the purchase, the production released a new pricing structure increasing the price for the same seats to $79. When I finally got through to the Hudson (after dozens of calls), I was told to either pay the upcharge or go jump in a lake.

Here is the email I just got. These people are truly awful.

Dear X,

Today, it was announced by the Broadway League that Broadway shows in New York City will be suspended through September 6, 2020.

While we are disappointed that we are unable to present your current performance of Neil Simon’s Plaza Suitewe are thrilled to announce that the production has been rescheduled to March 19-July 18, 2021.

We are exchanging your tickets into these new dates at no cost. At this point there is nothing else you need to do. Within the next few days, you will receive an email from us with options regarding your tickets. Should you need further help after our follow-up email, please feel free to call (855) 801-5876. Please note that our physical box office is closed, and call volume may be high. We will endeavor to accommodate your inquiries as quickly as possible.

We greatly appreciate your understanding and patience and look forward to welcoming you to Hudson Theatre once we re-open our doors.

I wish the Hudson theater sold its tickets through Telecharge where they have efficient refund and exchange policies. I'd like to get a ticket for 2021 but the Hudson refund process is a nightmare for everyone, it look like.

Yeah, they really refuse to let go of people's money. They refused to refund me and just scheduled me for next year. Some bull.

Of course they want you to exchange at "no cost." Seats that were purchased for $250 - $400+ are now being sold for $189 - $199.

I had tickets for 3/28.  They called me that day and asked if I wanted a refund or exchange tickets for an August performance.  I asked for the refund and they said it would take 30 days for the refund to be processed (don’t ask me why).  I got the credit 27 days later.

I then had tickets for 5/2 but no call or email until today saying they will send an email in a few days regarding exchanging tickets for the run next March-July 2021.  while they announced a production for next spring, it does not  say if it’s the same cast they are just saying “Neil Simons Plaza Suite”  So unless that is stated or guaranteed somewhere I would caution people to accept the exchange of dates.  This production has strung people along from the very beginning during a time that many people could have used this refund.  Other productions I had tickets for, Groundhog Day and To Kill a Mockingbird refunded as soon as Broadway announced their closures. Many posters on this board received refunds for their tickets.  All PS cared about was finding ways to hang on to the money.  While many people criticized the Hudson theater, my complaint is with the greedy producers of this production.  They could have handled this in a much better fashion.

Not to be a downer.  Keep in mind that is a temporary credit while the process continues. Your paperwork should reflect this.   The merchant, (Hudson Theater) has up to 60 days to respond on why or why not you should get your money.  If they fight the credit, your process will continue.  (If it is a tiny amount, which I'm sure your isn't, the credit card company will just write the amount off in your favor, especially if you have been a long time customer).  I'm in the middle of a dispute (travel company) now, for $320.  So far, after 3 and a half weeks, there has been no response.

They won’t fight it (if they know what’s good for them, that is)... For one thing, the credit card company said regardless of date of purchase we have 6 months from the time the -service- is supposed to be delivered to initiate a credit card investigation... i.e. even though I bought the tickets in Nov 2019, since the performance wasn’t until July 2020 I’d have until January 2021 to dispute. And while they’d obviously prefer to hold everyone’s money hostage for another year, that’s untenable and unacceptable - even if every other Broadway show hadn’t refunded tickets automatically, no questions asked.

The performance I bought tickets to attend was canceled, end of story, and as far as new dates 15 months from now, they have no basis on which to hold on to ANYONE’S money, since that’s not the performance for which anyone bought tickets, and they have no idea whether any of us will be healthy, alive, or will have moved to Philadelphia. While on occasion credit card companies do you a solid and absorb the amount themselves, I can guarantee you in this case they won’t have to do so - to put it simply, the merchant will have been unable to provide the service that was purchased until almost two years after the purchase date. And that won’t fly with any major credit card company.

Look at your paperwork. If it states temporary credit then that is what it is.  I hope in your case it is a permanent credit.  Yet, the Hudson Theater could easily argue that they have rescheduled your cancelled performance and then prolong your procedure, if they wanted to. You should have a dispute case number and can call for status of your dispute.   My flight to Europe was cancelled by the Government, the tour company, and most importantly, the airline.  The airline stated I got a full refund, which went to the tour company, to reimburse me.  The tour company states the airline charged me a $320 cancellation fee.  I said prove it...which should be simple enough.  Even with all those cancellations, my credit, for now is still a temporary credit, while under investigation.  It states it in my email from the credit card company and my card statement.  I am paying the balance of my card each month as if that $320 credit is not there.  I'm not assuming anything until I get a letter/email stating my dispute is settled.

Oh sure, if you’re talking legal/factual, then you are correct, the matter is not officially settled. The point I was making is that after receiving multiple refunds with basically no questions asked, on that same exact credit card, from Telecharge, Ticketmaster, Encores, Roundabout Theater, Signature Theater, Second Stage, New York Theatre Workshop, The Public Theater, MTC, MCC, CSC, Lincoln Center Theatre, City Center, Audience Rewards, Metropolitan Opera etc. etc. - if the Hudson Theatre/ATG wants to be the one and only theater to deny refunds, then first of all, I’d say I think they could ill afford to further alienate loyal, or for that matter even casual theatergoers, at this moment in time.
But even if I'm wrong about that, and if if they want to fight a major financial organization to be the one and only theater in New York City to make up their own rules and change them as they go along and play fast & loose with the purchases of their customers, I don’t think they’d have a leg to stand on legally, and given the precedents cited above, and the numerous other complaints on here, and the similar disputes I’m sure are already in play from other ticket buyers, I genuinely don’t see that being a fight that they would have a chance of winning.

Good luck on your own dispute- I had a similar one with a European airline about a decade ago for 10X that much (about $3000), which while justified, was much more complicated and less cut-and-dried... and while I had to resubmit additional information and re-open my dispute about 8 or 9 times, and while it took a year and a half, I eventually got the permanent refund and a personal letter of apology from the Vice President of the airline. The key is persistence - without being obnoxious or entitled - but if you know you’re in the right with around 1 or 2 disputes a year, and don’t give up, my experience is that eventually you will win.

I've started a credit card dispute. As much as I want to see this, it seems this production never sold out so I'm hopeful I'll be able to re-purchase cheaper tickets closer to the actual performance dates.

I wonder if SJP and Matthew Broderick are aware of what is going on with ticket refunds? She seems very fan friendly on Instagram and I doubt she'd approve of something like this happening with a show with her name attached to it.

Or, alternatively, if you want to call Hudson Theatre/ATG  on their B.S. by having your credit card company open up an investigation into their business practices while you get your money back – a completely justifiable move given that those of us who bought tickets late last summer are sort of inexcusably being automatically scheduled into new dates more than a year later than the performance we paid for, or nearly -two years- after the date of purchase, with no possible way of reaching anyone on the phone (believe me, I've tried), and more than a month after they sent an email promising to contact each ticketholder individually to ask what our specific preferences would be re: rescheduling and/or refund– then keep an eye out for the email to send to your credit card company's disputes department, since this is exactly what they're there for.

actually SJP has been pretty quiet on her IG lately.  I was wondering what was going on.  I’m sure they’re aware of the practices but it’s not their money and they don’t have control over that.  It’s unfortunate but I guess that’s business.

i just got the infamous email about my new show date next May 8th with the same seats .  Isn’t that very white of them.  They’re holding my money for a year and not even courteous enough to offer an upgraded seat? I wasn’t going to dispute my credit card but now they’ve pissed me off royally so I think I’ll follow up with my cc company.

After all this bs, I’m not that excited to see the production anymore.  Not a reflection on the stars because I love them both, but the rest of it is trash.
