I’m also not sure if she’s kidding or not. The show she’s talking about is obviously The Music Man (time frame/ they’re currently casting/ there are a few teen roles in that show/ etc.).
I’m a multiple award winning actor and I would KILL to sweep the stage after every performance of that show just to get into the building. If she really quit because of something so futile, I hope she is blacklisted. People like that have absolutely no grasp of the business or love of their craft. You shouldn’t be in this business for glamour, stardom and money. Sometimes that comes with the territory, but most of the time it doesn’t. You have to truly love what you do and love being in the room. And being in the room with those actors would have been life-changing for you. Typical child “l’m going to change the world” arrogance. One day she’ll grow up and understand the chance she missed."
You can't be serious. You really can't be serious. She said clearly that the show she's talking about hasn't been announced. You think The Music Man hasn't been announced? I gotta tell you. Obviously it's some stupid high school or middle school or community theater thing. Unbelievable.
Maybe the OP meant "black-balled", which we do use in a more general sense to mean various types of exclusion that do not add up to a "blacklist".
But I don't have enough fingers to count how many times I've heard a producer or casting person say "so-and-so will never work for us again"! That attitude lasts only until somebody with power (usually a director) demands that the "outcast" be hired for some other show.
This isn't to say no actor has ever hurt his/her career by crossing the wrong person; but the odds against success in the performing arts are so great it's hard to say for sure whether a career is destroyed by refusing to sleep with Harvey Weinstein or simply because a career of much duration is so rare. (I trust it's clear I am not excusing Weinstein or any other harasser/sexual predator.)
To the original poster: So you joined this site on 12/21/19 just to post this rant. Frankly, I can't figure out what the hell you are talking about. Move on.
