I don't go to concerts (only time I went was because a friend couldn't make it and gave me her ticket since I knew the other people going.) I am a fan of Hugh Jackman (saw him in Boy from Oz when I was a summer intern in NYC and did standing room for his Bway show back in 2011) but the prices here in NYC at Madison Square Garden is out of my budget (lowest price I found was $386!) I know it's not comparable but I can't help but equate that to a premium center orch seat but from the seatmap it's not even considered the best seats in the house so I'll just pass. Also I realized it's happening during world pride in NYC so I'll probably be going to other events anyway.
I just hope one of the concerts will be recorded and released by the end of the tour.
They’ll soon realize this idea was enormously ambitious. Hugh Jackman’s musical fan base in the U.S. isn’t as big as they assumed. Definitely nowhere near the level of his home Australia. In one night, one arena venue here in the U.S. can fill the same amount of people who saw his one-man show on Broadway it’s entire run.
Unless they are using a small intimate configuration arena layout (which many artists do), they are definitely not going to sell out an entire arena in any city. He’s not Barbra Streisand.
Was shocked he was doing an arena tour. I know it would work in Australia, but wondered about it here. Many upper bowl, and moderate lower bowl tickets are available for Toronto, and it's interesting to think that he sold out 2 weeks in one of our touring theatres with his pre-Broadway try out of "Back on Broadway" in 2011. I would have thought he would be better off in theatres.
Although, like Haterobics said, many people have no idea what their plans are in June or July. I am not one of those people. I will say it's interesting that once tickets went on sale to the public, I haven't heard any radio ads, in comparison to the many I heard before they went on sale.

After "Boy from Oz," it's unlikely that such a tour would've been attempted. Or even after "Les Miz," which had a brand-specific audience, i.e. the title and show alone packed seats. But after "Showman," which made tons of cash all over the globe despite lukewarm reception and no real cross-cultural interest in the subject matter -- this idea at least has some validity. Still, he'd be better off touring and selling out larger theaters, wouldn't he? He's not Streisand.

Many of the venues already announced on the tour are selling extremely well. Both Dublin concerts are showing SOLD OUT in the tour's website. Madison Square Garden in NYC added a Saturday matinee. In addition to having tickets for Saturday, July 20th at the HB, I also will be seeing him in San Jose, and it's selling very well. Pretty much the only seats that are left are up in the rafters.
Yes, the top upper sections of the HB still have seats, and by the time we get to July, it will be full.
Looking at the Ticketmaster site, Chicago has only a handful of seats left. Same with Madison Square Garden on the Saturday night show. The majority of the tickets that are showing for Boston, are resell tickets - more than likely from ticket brokers.
Haterobics, you are so right. It's amazing how many people just don't plan ahead when it comes to concerts, theatre, etc. Most wait to the last minute, and kvetch when they can't get a good seat. I never thought this was over ambitious at all.
In my corner of Southern California, he is selling very well. With another 7 months to go, I have every confidence that most of the seats (if not all) will be sold. And sold out or not, I am sure that I and my many friends who are going, will have a thoroughly enjoyable evening. That's the point, isn't it?
What a load of baloney. He is not selling well at all. What is the reason for creating a fantasy land bubble? It is no reflection on him or the show.. I'm just disappointed because I thought this would take a "event" quality to it. And the "people don't know what they are doing in July " thing is hogwash. Plenty of shows sell, out at the Hollywood Bowl a entire year in advance. I just think the local advertisement for this show has sucked. You can't even blame pricing.. As their are some great box seats still on sale at very affordable prices.
Because I am interested in box office.. I am interested in advertisement. I like the Hollywood Bowl. I like Hugh Jackan. I mean.. You can ask.. Why care about anything? Why do you care why I care?
Papi2013, sales are not bad at all. As said earlier, it's not until 7 more months. Plenty of time for it to sell out completely. We'll revisit this thread in July and have a good chuckle.

I really like Jackman as an actor but his singing technique is horrendous. To me, it's like a teacher's nails on a chalkboard. I think I'll sit this one out.

Oh no Neal. Let's have our chuckle now. I appreciate you trying to get things twisted. We both know the venue will be full. But that is because of all the discounts, tie in promotions, and comps the Bowl does in the summer. That has nothing to do with how disappointing sales are. Also; you were kind of caught in a fib on the previous thread when you said your co workers already had their subscription tickets. No subscription tickets went on sale till last Wednesday . A few days after you said they had purchased their tickets. I appreciate your excitement. But your a little messy. And I say that with love.
As season subscriber- I was a bit offended it wasn't included in any of the series.

It was last Wednesday . But you had to get the 10 show pack. It went on sale a few days after Neil had claimed his co workers had tickets. I called the venue last week.
I didn't fib at all. My co-worker showed me the email confirmation from the HB with this renewal, and the HJ tickets included - this was before the official on sale date for subscribers last week. His family has "owned" the same Garden Box for over 5 decades, and he's grandfathered in to extra perks for being such a long time subscriber. He also gets free parking there, as well.

Yikes, now that I wish I knew in advance... I am seeing JCM sing Hedwig Friday and Saturday nights in NYC so I didn't think i could see Hugh, but a matinee I could swing...
