Thank you for that. Will try again tomorrow. But- I HATE Ticketmaster- wish they went with Telecharge.

A show can’t just “go with" Telecharge over Ticketmaster. The Al Hirschfeld is a Jujamcyn house, and Jujamcyn shows are always sold through Ticketmaster.

Ireland's government is making serious movements against Ticketmaster and their 'practices'.

Wish the UK would follow.

Did not know that a show cannot choose the ticket seller- at least on Tleelcharge- the premium ticket prices are sold to the show and producers of the show- on Ticketmaster- the sky is the limit- and the money goes to the scalper. Outrageous.

MasterCard presale is live. Unable to select seats though.

I am not paying 1000 dollars a ticket to see Moulin Rouge- which is what the scalpers will want for decent seats. I sat for twenty minutes waiting for tickets to load for the resale today- then  just gave up. Ticketmaster can kiss my ass.

I know at least 5 friends who have NOT bought tickets for a) the price and b) the Ticketmaster functionalities and all the “you will receive a seat in this row” business.

I sent them a private message calling them out on their Ticketmaster issues. I said I’d like to buy $99 tickets before the Ticketmaster scalpers get them and resell for $999 so how do I pick my seat. And all they said was you can pick ticket price. Didn’t even address the seat issue.

YET MORE WAYS IN WHICH TICKETMASTER JUST SUCKS:

I bought yesterday during the fan pre-sale, intending to use my Amex Membership Rewards points to pay. I read TM's fine print and understood the convoluted (NEW SUCK #1) process I would need to go through after my purchase was complete (NEW SUCK #2: TM does not disclose the number of points required in advance of  completing the purchase.) Of course, the aforementioned convoluted process resulted in an error message. I called AMEX; the helpful CSR explained: (a) the error message is common, and the problem has been ongoing for at least the seven years he worked there (NEW SUCK #3); and, (b) Ticketmaster's point conversion ratio is worse than the conversion ratio Amex offers for using points to pay for any change on a cardmember's statement (SUCKS #4 and #5 -- TM gets two for that one!)

They are a truly despicable corporation.

Got REALLY lucky and grabbed a Row S, Seat 1 ticket for mid-August. It was $99 plus fees so $112. Family member bought it for me as an early Christmas gift.

I went in toward the end of the first day of the fan presale and picked up a “cheap” seat with no issue. I’m looking again at my same date to see if the MC presale released different tickets and it’s loading quickly with seats in center mezz row S if anyone wants to take a look. It’s a weird date - Monday, July 8th - but it’s toward the beginning of previews and a way to get the $99 price tag.

I could be VERY wrong.  But I (unfortunately) use Ticketmaster for many concerts (and Broadway shows).  With the concerts, they always pull this garbage with presales and such.  They don't even release the best seats most of the time. AND, much of the time the price is even lower for better seats.

Last week, I bought Josh Groban and Idina tickets for The Garden for $99 2 hours before the show.  First row at the end of the stage.  When those went on sale, they were hundreds of dollars. Before the show, large blocks opened up.

And my personal favorite, we bought Taylor Swift tickets for $1400. Do not judge me, LOL.  And weeks later, the SAME seats were $400.  Ticketmaster refused to do anything about it. So I am just going to wait this one out and see.

I was finally able to snag a front row mezannine center - Row A, Seat 115 - on the aisle. But at $431.70 that to me is incredibly exorbitant for a single ticket. So again I passed on tickets for this show, and will now probably cancel my entire trip next year to NYC, postponing it for a retirement celebration. That’s assuming the show is still on Broadway in five years.

That’s a ridiculous price, especially for that seat. But don’t give up. The fan pre-sale seats are not all the seats, I’m sure. There are bound to be more affordable seats once the seats go on sale for general public. And, if not, there are bound to be other Broadway and off-Broadway shows worth your time. I hope you don’t let one show keep you away from NYC for 5 years.

dmwnc, fyi I got that same seat for $100 less on a weeknight. Still outrageous, but 25% less so … if you have flexibility.

Lucky for me, I love drama- and serious themes for musicals- Les Miz, Parade, Cabaret- so if I miss this one- not so terrible- I am not spending over 350 a ticket- with fees- for a great orchestra seat- otherwise, I will just wait until year 5 of the show and see it then. This will be a monster hit- but without me in a seat, most likely- I am not going to play the Ticketmaster game- and the same for concerts in Vegas-  probably will not see concerts there any more- have seen Cher- Celine- Bette Mariah, Shania, - but will not pay 1000 dollars to see another Ticketmaster rip off ticket-all those tickets were bought before Ticketmaster bought AXS- which gave great seats- and the prices were expensive but fair- anything Ticketmaster is involved with is a major rip off- from my experience- unless the show or concert is not in huge demand- then the tickets are normal priced.

Thanks. Unfortunately, I had a very specific date in mind to celebrate my 60th birthday, and to spend that weekend in NYC.

The selectable seating map is active on Ticketmaster. Right now, it looks like side mezzanine row G is the best deal in the theatre.

The New York Times review and brand name will make this a hot ticket.

Are these prices insane to anyone else? I go to a lot of shows, but holy crap. The first two rows of the center mez are $400 a ticket? Jesus

For those that saw it in Boston - would you recommend rear orchestra or mezzanine?

I second this inquiry.  Debating between the $179 seats which look like either Row G Center Mezz or the far side and rear orchestra.

Leaning towards Mezz Row G as I think the Hirschfield theater is one of the better Mezzanines on Bway.  Any input is appreciated.

I sat in the Orhcestra in Boston and id recommend Mezz here. The orchestra overhang is big here at the Hirshchfield and I think the Mezz would give you a great view of everything. Actors do run around the orchestra though if that intrigues you. The show may be a little different here than at the Colonial as well, so who knows but I bought Mezz row L!

This has nothing to do with tickets but I didn’t want to start a thread about a show that ended its run yesterday. I had the extreme pleasure of seeing Karen Olivo in Fun Home in Madison, WI yesterday. I saw her in Hamilton in Chicago but this seemed so out of her usual wheelhouse and with the intimate setting of a tiny theater (post-show talkback and all) it was even more special. She was spectacular and I felt so fortunate to be there even after having seen it on Broadway because she brought something very different but still so moving to the role of Alison. And, of course, that voice. Oh that voice.

I am even more excited to see her in Moulin Rouge now.
