One thing I forgot to mention: on the inside of the program guide there was a page with the gold swirls and show logo, with this written above it:

This will be the rare case where I have seen both the original and remake (of the “Charlie” movies) before heading into a musical performance.

No promises, but I’m also going into that show with a open mind. Guess I better star looking for the OBCR if it exists.

But first, in six weeks...”HAMILTON” and the Angelica Tour. :)

Well I enjoyed Waitress last week in Costa Mesa. Im already set for Dear Evan Hansen in January and Aladdin in March. But I am waiting for a discount to see Hello Dolly in January. I signed up for Costa Mesa’s Center Access program for 50 to 70% off selected Center performances.

Thank you for the beautiful photos! This brings back so many memories of when I saw this revival on Broadway (I went multiple times). Such a great production of a great show!

Glad to hear it.  That was Danny's 2nd performance as Tevye - or perhaps I should say his 1/2 to 1 1/2 performance as he was called to go on unexpectedly at intermission the prior performance for the first time!

That’s quite surprising, because he did the entire show as if he’d been doing it all along. Not a single stumble or fail. He’s definitely got some great acting chops and a wonderful voice.

I saw the show last night. It was my first experience seeing fiddler and had I not known it was a non-equity cast I wouldve thought this was Equity. Great cast and staging. Just wish the Fiddler flew. Just an overall great experience and the audience seemed full!

Saw the show last week and was very disappointed. I don't normally see non-equity tours, but I loved this production in New York so much I thought I'd give it a go. While each member of the Broadway cast stood out and showed me new angles of their characters I had never considered before, nobody in this touring cast rose above "fine" for me. The young characters were better than the older ones, as expected, but I was astounded by Yente's complete lack of comic timing and Golde's inability to play anything other than anger. I knew it would be hard to find a non-equity cast working at the same level as Danny Burstein and company, but about 90% of what made this production special is missing on this tour. And without the spectacular technical elements that were always going to be difficult to tour, you might as well just wait and see the next regional production near you.

The tour is currently in St Louis with a $104 top ticket price, and running ads like there's no tomorrow. The ad (also on the show's website) mentions the usual "direct from Broadway" but also makes a very big deal of Tony award winning director Bartlett Sher. I am just wondering how much actual involvement Bartlett Sher actually had with this production. The tour started performances October 17, 2018 while the Bartlett Sher production of To Kill a Mockingbird started performances on November 1, 2018. Now I know Scott Rudin is the nicest and most understanding man in the world, but would Bartlett Sher really be shifting back and forth between the productions. If I had been directing a show as important as a new Aaron Sorkin adaptation of To Kill a Mockingbird, I would want to devote my full energy to it. Now I realize I am being a little harsh with Bartlett Sher but he is the only director listed on the tour's website. There is no production originally directed by credit (actually Jerome Robbins is listed, but I'm sure his involvement must be limited to looking down from above with a disappointed glare and the occasional nightmare of a bottle dancer) and no production recreated by credit.

I believe it would be Sari Ketter, the associate director. If it wasn't Sher, then Ketter likely staged it. Sher may have come in during tech to check things out and give it a final polish.

I believe Bart actually had a substantial role in the rehearsal process for the show. I’m sure, like all tours, he had associates running the show here or there. But unlike the current King and I tour, he’s actually billed as the director. For the king and I tour he’s billed in the way that the tour director recreated his direction.

Any recent reviews of the tour?  I'm hesitant about seeing it since it's non-Equity, but may go if I can find a cheap ticket on a discount site.

I saw it a few months ago. If you weren't aware that it was non-equity going in you would never know by watching it. The cast and orchestra are wonderful, and the production itself is beautiful.
