Fun to place quick moments like Verdon being called back for her encore for Can-Can.

So my dear you think you can get to Broadway. Well, let me tell you something. Broadway has no room for people like you. Not the Broadway I know. My Broadway takes people like you and eats them up and spits them out. My Broadway is the Broadway of Merman, and Martin, and Fontaine, and if you think you can build yourself up by knocking other people down... ...GOOD LUCK... Seinfeld

So, as we're now less than a month away from the series premiere (Tuesday April 9, 2019), photos and promos are slowly being released.

Here is Bianca Marroquin as Chita Rivera in the "Big Spender" number from the 1969 film adaptation of SWEET CHARITY.  The actress playing Paula Kelly as yet to be identified:

The detailed recreation of the "Big Spender" number is fantastic - the casting, the hair/make-up to the costume recreation.  This photo is of Bob Fosse rehearsing the number on the set so the ladies aren't in their line-up spots on the rail:

The scene from the actual film:

They have been filming all over the Upper West Side.

They were still filming as of last Friday March 1, 2019.  They've been shooting all over NY.  They used a house in Staten Island as Bob Fosse's childhood home.  They also shot in Los Angeles and interiors are being shot at Silvercup Studios in Queens.  They should be wrapping soon if they haven't already.

curious who might be playing Paula Kelly?

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

They really are covering a lot of ground on this 8-part series. Kelcy Griffin is playing Debbie Allen, who starred in the 1986 Broadway revival of SWEET CHARITY.

Friends who’ve seen the first few episodes say it flashes back and forward so it doesn’t follow a standard narrative which will blow the minds of people very familiar with Bob Fosse and Gwen Verdon’s life history. It might be a bit confusing at first for the standard viewer.

A little pricey, but on April 18th the Y is doing a screening and conversation with Rockwell, Williams, and producers including Kail and Miranda — if anyone’s interested!

I was going to post the full Playbill, which has full crew credits, the Who’s Who page and photos but every time I post anything regarding this series, no one comments and the thread quickly gets lost. Therefore, I’m no longer posting any photos or anything else regarding FOSSE/VERDON. Enjoy the series, kiddos.

...what are you expecting exactly, people begging you not to leave the thread? If you don't post that stuff, someone else will eventually share it anyway, and have a much better attitude about it (like how years ago you wanted to charge me $100 for the "Fosse cut" of Pippin pretty much merely because that's what you once paid for it, and like a bolt out of the blue, karma stepped in and it was posted elsewhere freely for people to download).

Be as stingy as you like. Other people will always fill the gap.

I asked $100 for Bob Fosse’s cut of PIPPIN?!   Wow!  This must have been over more than a decade ago and mea culpa.  I was a total dick even then.  Ouch!  Also amazing is you still remembered this.  Bullies really leave a lasting impression.  Sorry for that but a dick is a dick for a lifetime.  Can’t change that.

Enjoy FOSSE/VERDON.  Just saw the first episode last night and I’m still numb this series is even happening.  2 simple words: Michelle Williams.  Sheer brilliance.

This series got me thinking about the Fosse revue from the late 90s and why they decided to go the revue route instead of something more like A Class Act or LoveMusik. I wonder if a Fosse book musical was every considered at some point during the musical's development. Obviously based on the hype surrounding this serious it could have been really interesting, but the revue was good too and ended up winning best musical anyway.

FOSSE was a major disappointment.  Even original cast members agreed.  More baffling is Gwen Verdon, Nicole Fosse and Ann Reinking we’re involved with its creation and development.  The show started planting its seeds in Canada and the material being considered was incredible.  Sadly, most didn’t make the cut, including ALL of Gwen Verdon’s legendary work.  We only got her duet from CHICAGO “Nowadays”/“Keep it Hot” (aka “Hot Honey Rag&rdquo and the trio number “Cool Hand Luke.”  The show did a pre-Broadway run in Los Angeles and that’s where a lot of fabulous numbers were cut.  What arrived on Broadway was a watered-down travesty.  Also, unlike JEROME ROBBINS’ BROADWAY, there was no narrator explaining anything so unless you were really familiar with Bob Fosse’s work, you had NO idea where the number being performed came from.  Yes, it’s listed in the Playbill but who is going to refer to it every time a new dance started?   As an ardent fan of his work since I was a kid, FOSSE was a huge disappointment.  Just a bunch of young dancers dancing his work all technical and mechanical, which is how he never intended his work performed.  Just look at footage of Gwen and Chita dancing in CHICAGO.  In today’s technical world, they’d be called sloppy.

May you tell me where you obtained this one? And how I might get a copy? (I assume it was a marketing event, but wondering if they sell them for the public).
