I remember when "Wicked" opened in Chicago in 2005, there were plenty of benefits/fundraisers that the cast of the show participated in. There were fundraisers for World Aids Day and Hurricane Katrina, where the whole orchestra level was sold for charity. I bought a ticket with the hopes of meeting her to tell her how much I loved her performance. Both she and Annaleigh Ashford were no-shows at both events. I got to meet Terry Leung (Boq), who was very kind a
I am selling brand new, never used bookmarks commemorating the world premiere opening of "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" in London's West End at the Palace Theatre.
I am selling an official promotional postcard flyer for the Chicago engagement of "Aspects of Love", starring Keith Michell and Linda Balgord, that played at the now closed Civic Theatre. Also included with the promotional flyer is a playbill from the first time that "The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber" played at the Chicago Theatre in 1991. Both of these items are in excellent condition, with no defects.
I didn't say that I was ready to hate it. I have seen every film she has made and seen her perform live over 15 times. I know that she has a certain shtick to her performances. She has been criticized by her co-stars for chewing scenery and overacting. I can safely say that I have just as much right to have an opinion about her as the next person...
I always thought that from the moment that it was announced that she was going to play Dolly, I knew that they should have renamed the show, "Hello, Bette". I love her as a singer/entertainer/performer, but as an actress she needs to have a very tight rein. Without that tight rein, her overacting gets the best of her, take a look at all of the films she has made lately. "Hello, Dolly" is a classic of American Musical Theatre. I saw the last tour wit
Prior is the hero of the play. The ending of the play is incredibly uplifting considering all of the drama that precedes it. Roy Cohn's character gets what he deserves in more ways than one: he dies from AIDS and gets a taste of his own medicine is his final scene with Ethel, where she basically puts him on trail in the same that he treated her. I have seen the HBO film and the play performed live and both versions were incredibly satisfying experiences. I believe
I am selling an official playbill and Orchestra ticket stub from the original Broadway engagement of Tommy Tune's Tony-winning musical, "Grand Hotel", starring Tony Winner the late Michael Jeter, Jane Krakowski and the late David Carroll.
I am sooo happy to hear that Bob Mackie is doing the costumes for this show! I CAN"T wait to see this show, I have been a Cher fan since I was a little child (over 50 years). My dream would be to go to a preview and meet her before the show or at intermission!...
I am selling two promotional bookmarks for the West End premiere of "The Cursed Child" and an original mousepad featuring artwork from the designer of the hardcover editions of the book.
I am selling an OOP paperback copy of the HBO films tie-in copy of "Angels in America", along with two stagebills from a Chicago production of "Angels" done by the Hypocrites Theatre Company.
"This Is Me" was the best song of the evening. I feel that it was passionately performed by Keala Settle and the others. It was appropriate considering the theme of the evening. I do not remember a more enthusiastic response to a performance in my memory, seeing everyone jump from their seats at the end of the song. Once again, the Oscars got something wrong. It's not the first time, and certainly will not be the last...
I have a ticket stub from the opening night performance of the 1987 musical, "Grover's Corners", that was never able to play on Broadway due to a conflict with Thornton Wilder's nephew...
I flew from Chicago to NYC to see a preview performance (something inside me told me that it wasn't long for Broadway), and was completely surprised at the full house and the rousing response from all of the people that were there. I was completely shocked to read that the producer pulled the money and shut the show down. It was far from a great musical, but I loved all of the songs sung by Buckley and Hateley...
Jenifer Lewis was part of the original workshop of "Dreamgirls" as Effie, then she was a "Harlette" for Bette Midler's "DeTour" concert, both pretty amazing beginnings for a musical career. She has also appeared in "Sister Act 1 & 2", "Beaches" and "What's Love Got To Do With It". I believe when she first started out, she did have a voice. When I saw her on the Bette Midler tour, my eye was definitely dr
In an interview with the Washington Post, Oscar, Tony, Grammy and Emmy winning actress and singer Barbra Streisand is claiming that she will never tour again. She says that she is more interested in recording albums and making films than touring. I think that it's incredibly sad that she never gave anyone the "heads up" that this was the end. I am very happy that I got to see her this last go-round, she was phenomenal!
The numerous times that I saw "Wicked" on tour, LOTS of people left at intermission. The main reason being the thought that it would be more like "The Wizard of Oz", followed by comments like, "Where's the Lion?", "There's no Scarecrow". I understand that the theatre attracts a certain "type" of people, but honestly, if you read the book, you would know that they are very much characters on the periphery...
