Just wondering, how is Dee Roscioli in "The Cher Show"? Both times I saw the show in Chicago, she was never on, only Stephanie J. Block. I enjoyed her the numerous times I saw her in "Wicked" as Elphaba. Does she bring the same type of Cher swagger that Stephanie does?
I really cannot wait to see this series! I have been intrigued by Bob Fosse, ever since I saw "Cabaret" as a child. I LOVE Sam Rockwell, and his casting in the show is amazing! Want to watch this show to learn even more about this great man than I already know!
Now that there's has been a new release date announced for "Wicked", what are people's thoughts about Lady Gaga playing Elphaba. I think that with her theatrical studies and vocal range that she would be the ideal person to portray her. I know that people think that Ariana Grande would be ideal, but I feel that she's too young and her acting would not be ideal. Plus Gaga would be a HUGE box office draw...
Both times in Chicago, during the preview process, I entered the lottery twice. The very first preview performance and the the press preview performance. In both cases, I received an email telling me that I was wait listed and had to wait for an hour to see if I won the tickets. Both times I did win and was able to sit in the same seats both times, front row center!
Watched both BroadwayCon segments on YouTube yesterday, the latest episode of "It's Always Sonny", with Jarrod Spector and some kind person also posted the first eight minutes of the show that I think has since changed a bit because I didn't see anyone wearing sailor uniforms. It amazes me how much work they have really put into this show, and how much work they still are continuing to do...
As great as a studio cast recording of this show would be, I completely agree that a live cast recording would be phenomenal. Just to hear the continual excitement of the audience from start to finish!
When I heard the first two songs this show on Barbra Streisand's "Back to Broadway" CD, I thought that her performance of the songs convinced me that this film could be made into a musical. They were both very good at translating the emotions of Norma Desmond in the movie. Going back to when I first saw the show when it opened on Broadway, I thought that Glenn Close's interpretations were less than successful. I hope that whoever they find to direct this fi
Part of what made Gloria Swanson's performance in the film so amazing was that she had performed in silent films and that made it all the more effective. Studying the artform and actually having done it are two completely different things. Lupone choosing not to even consider it makes everything more about just herself. She didn't study the history of burlesque, but acquited herself just fine in "Gypsy"...
Having seen Glenn Close in the original Broadway production, I LOVE the original film, it my all-time favorite film. I also love Glenn Close, she is an amazing actress. That being said I was bored out of my mind with this musical! All that it was to me was her coming down the stairs of her mansion over and over again with different costumes, I couldn't wait for it to be over! With the new film, which I am sure will get made now with her recent Globe win. They
Remember that the Streisand version of "A Star is Born" swept the Golden Globes and only wound up with four technical Oscar nominations, only winning for Best Song for "Evergreen". The Garland version won two GG's for the two leads and we all know what happened at the Oscars with that film...
This whole announcement was incredibly misleading and disappointing. When the show first began they showed the cast of "Wicked". To me, the only highlights of the CNN NYE show were seeing what Patti Labelle was cooking at her NYE party, Faye Dunaway talk about returning to Broadway, with Anderson Cooper bragging about his mother's sexual liasons and the telephone call from Cher...
Personally, I feel that if your show does not win the Tony for "Best Score", I don't feel that it should win for "Best Musical". I saw "Into the Woods", before it offically opened in previews and found it very enjoyable and then saw it again after it had been running for awhile and didn't realize that "certain" changes had been made. I saw "Phantom" in the West End and was completely bored out of my mind. I could not
DRSisLove, I must strongly disagree with your incredibly inaccurate summation of "The Cher Show". Cher is a living legend, someone who has overcome many personal situations that you might be familiar with. I have seen other "shows" that have made it to Broadway and others that have not. The work that the actors and actresses in this show every night is not easy by any stretch of the imagination. I understand that everyone is entitled to their own op
I wanted to see Bette Midler live in concert ever since I saw "The Rose", when it first came out in 1979. I discovered the "Live at Last" album and wore it out. My first tour was "De Tour" and was very fortunate that she sat on the man's lap in the row in front of me and gave me the closet look at her that I could have ever imagined. Saw the "Experience The Divine" tour four times over two years and immensely enjoyed that tour.&nbs
If you were a big fan of hers from the 60s to the 80s, you will more than enjoy it!...Stephanie J. Block is beyond amazing!, as well as Micaela Diamond...the Bob Mackie costume piece in the first act is jaw-dropping!...Try the daily lottery and hope for front row seats!..
Just saw on Facebook that Dee Roscioli is going on tonight as "Star Cher" in "The Cher Show" this evening. It will be interesting to see how her performance compares to Stephanie's...
