Hi all!

Just wanted to see if anyone has stage-doored Angels yet? And if so, who has come out to greet fans?

I know they are still in previews, and it is a super long performance for the actors, but was curious and thought I'd put this out here. :)

Thanks everyone!

Andrew has signed every night so far. Last night, I saw pics of James McArdle, Denise Gough & Lee Pace too

Nathan Lane will never sign or if he does it will be extremely rare. He hates fans in general and I’m sure after a show like his, he’ll be even less in the mood to pretend to be nice for a little while to people he doesn’t know.

I don't think he necessarily hates his fans, but rather he's just a very private person. I met him on pure dumb luck after THE NANCE years ago and he was quick to leave, but he signed and was courteous. After a play that totals almost eight hours between two parts, frankly, I'm surprised anyone is coming out.

I'm getting feels seeing Lee Pace at the stage door and remembering Pushing Daisies.

Also, random but I think it's nice that they set up those angel wings for people who do want to post to social media. It feels less thirsty than the other vague attempts theaters/shows use to get free press.

I wouldn't blame anyone for not wanting to sign after a show like this. I'm surprised the audience is even into it. I'd assume everyone was tired and ready to go home.

He pretty much hates people in general.  He's pretty dismissive to anyone who even hints that they recognize who he is.

That's a stupid generalization, perhaps he just hates people like you?  I've met Mr. Lane through a writer in New York, and he was kind and courteous.  What a ridiculous comment.

So, meeting him in a social setting played out differently than trying to meet him at the stage door?! Who'd've thought?

Neither one of those posters mentioned the stage door.  Him signing autographs most likely happens all over the world, in every kind of situation.

I think it is incredibly rude to say he hates fans. I am friends with some security people on Broadway, all of whom describe Lane as very nice. Does he sign at the stage door? No. Does that mean he hates fans? Hell no.

Thank you, BroadwayRox. Don't spread bull$hit generalizations simply because he didn't sign your goddamn Playbill.  Butthurt fanboys are the worstttttt.

I've worked on several shows that starred Nathan Lane. And while he wasn't outwardly rude during the run, he was very dismissive to anyone after the run dare they recognize him. This includes security personnel who had previously had a cordial working relationship with him.

Lane doesn't have to sign anything....that's his right.  It is the words he chooses and the facial expressions he gives, when refusing, that gives him the negative reputation he has.

Bumping this thread to see if anyone knows what the stage door situation has been like for days when both parts run back to back?

Was there this past Saturday and stopped at the stage door after Part 2.  After Part 1 finished I took a quick glance towards the stage door and didn't see barricades set up so I'm guessing no one came out to sign, which comes as no shock given the circumstances.

After Part 2, most of the principles came out and signed.  Didn't see Susan Brown at all, and Nathan Lane went straight to his waiting car.  Just prior to Andrew Garfield coming out they told everyone not to ask for photos.  Overall it was a pretty tame stage door experience - crowd was maybe two deep along the barricade, except at the "closed" end where people crowded a little more.  Everyone had come out by about 11:35 or so.

How does a stage door for a show like this work? Do people come out to sign after both parts on a consecutive day or just after the second one? I’m wondering for Harry Potter, because it’s set up the same way. Didn’t want to start another thread.

Only saw the first part but from what others have said it seems the actors come out for both parts. Andrew and others came out when I saw part 1. But that was during the start of previews.

I met him twice at two different stage doors. He signed "The Lion King" and "The Producers" DVDs and was nothing less than cordial. Both very pleasant experiences and I'm still standing.

Did the two-part show today. Andrew Garfield, Lee Pace, Denise Gough, James McArdle, and Nathan Stewart-Jarrett all came out to sign. Andrew, Lee, and Denise were not taking photos, but James and Nathan S-J did. They were all very kind to everyone they encountered.

I can speak from experience and say that Nathan Lane does not “hate” his fans.

I met his hushand a few years ago while working an event. We became friendly and when I mentioned that Lane is a hero of mine, he arranged for me to visit backstage at The Front Page.

Nathan spent a good half hour with me in his dressing room discussing theater. He could not have been kinder.

AllThatJazz2, Do you mean they were not posing for pictures or you could not take a picture at all?

They were not posing for pictures with fans. Fans were taking pics of them as they went through the line signing and no one said anything to stop them, but they politely refused any selfie/posed requests.
