Question, why would you be open only until 4:30? Is that the time the city allows at your location? One would think you would very well with Broadway based merch up until 8:00pm with the thousands of people passing on their way to an actual Broadway show?
You do realize it's not 1980 anymore? Now besides just box office, there are 4K/Blu-ray/DVD/Digital sales, (which includes library and rental kiosk locations) Premium Cable, Basic Cable, local networks, PPV, On Demand, Streaming and Soundtrack revenues too. It may never make a profit, time will tell, but will most likely break even.
" Not having been in Manhattan for almost 4 years I have to ask. What happened to the old Times Square which was to have been used for a few different projects all of which died on the vine."
From everything I have heard The Times Square can't go legit because when Garth Drabinsky took over the space occupied by the The Apollo and Lyric, he took up the block on 43rd St. and left no room for a loading dock to the Times Sq. Apparently the city won't allow
At a matinee early in the Rosie revival of "Grease" run as act 2 was about to start, Rosie came out from the curtain clearly upset and announced that Marcia Lewis had fallen in a trap door and there would be a delay. After maybe fifteen minutes Rosie returned to announced Marcia would continue and she did for the rest of the show. Weeks later at the cast signing I asked her if she was alright and she said it was scary and was still going to the Chiropractor. You would have never know
Somebody took a flash photo of Audra and Michael's nude scene today Jul 24

'I remember when I saw “Take Me Out”, before the nude scenes occurred security would stand in the side aisles specifically watching the audience and looking for anyone taking pictures. I think I’ve seen other shows that did the same."
Haven't seen this production but did the Falco/Tucci one and the scene is first when the lights come up. The ushers most definitely should be on alert, no easier time to patrol than the first minutes.
Wrong of course but for an invasion of privacy

"'FOSSE/VERDON' COMING TO FX" Apr 9

The Shuberts should name The Broadhurst The Fosse/Verdon. The Broadhurst name has zero historical value. But after thirty years they still haven't named The Majestic for the man who has but more asses in Shubert seats than anyone else in Broadway history. They might have someone who makes copies up in the office they deem more worthy as they did The Royale and The Plymouth.
Horror On Broadway Mar 28

Going thru some New Times archives, the 70's had some horror/thrillers. One "Veronica's Room" by Ira Levin starring recently Oscared Eileen Heckart at The Music Box. It ran for 75 performances. Gwen Verdon gave it a go with "Children! Children!" at The Ritz and closed on Opening Night. Joan Hackett starred in "Night Watch" and ran for 121 shows and even though it wasn't a success, "Night Watch" was adapted into a movie staring Elizabeth Taylor.

She sang it because she is decades long friends with the song writers, one of who was playing the piano. Plus it is a lovely song that deserved win and way better than the dirge that won only because of star power.

The hotel has closed and scaffolding has been erected below The Palace marquee. Not part of the project but the McDonalds on the other end of the block is closing soon too. They built a bigger modern one down the block on the Old Criterion theater site so the whole block will be dark.

I always say some theater fans have no idea life exists off W45th Street. To normal people this doesn't sound strange. To some of you it does because nothing matters but the original cast album. This is a POP version of the song. She is not singing it in character just like Streisand wasn't Grisabella singing "Memory". More people covering the song is a good thing.

'Are younger generations even familiar with the movie? I remember watching it in the 80's and being thoroughly entertained, but how familiar is it to people born after 1990?"
