Another show you couldn't pay me to see.

These are only my opinions but: Jukebox musicals suck, Disco really sucks and Donna Summer .. well....

Well, I do like disco and I do like her music. Sergio Trujillo will probably do a great job with the choreography though I've never thought of disco as the most energetic of dancing. Des doesn't affect my opinion one way or the other. I don't know enough about her life to know if we really need a Donna Summer musical.

I am looking forward to this.  I hope that with the music they create a fun portrait of the disco era .  How the music came to be,  how the disco clubs emerged,  how the gay fans supported her,  how she had a cray cray religious moment and turned on her gay fans,  how she came around ... etc.,.

Here is link that covers some of her alleged anti gay remarks and a letter she wrote denying it.  This was a huge thing. I can't imagine it won't be covered in the show.  I am looking forward to this.

Well there certainly is enough info out there if you have any interest.  I think this could be great.  

 

I mean, is there some backstory or conflict worth turning into a musical? Or is it just going to be like On Your Feet which was fun as a Gloria Estefan concert but not much more than that because there was either nothing to tell or they were afraid to put in anything unflattering?

She threw her two cents into the Great Comet Twitter race wars, which caused a bit of consternation. But she's a tremendous talent.

She said that she was done doing ensemble parts and only wanted lead roles from now on.
