Princeton Returns said: "Michelle Dockery would be the ideal actress to open it in London. Considering The Sound of Music (probably the biggest name R&H show) couldn't survive in london without a name im not sure why they think this will sell with an unknown like Kelli. Especially when  The King and I as a show is done on tour often in the UK

The only reason The Sound of Music did not survive in London was cause it was a terrible production with very bad casting. When it opened people were only interested to see the girl who was cast through a television show and not sound of music itself. The show had terrible designs and it made one question weather you were actually watching The Sound of Music or Frankenstein. They were very lucky it had the run it had, cause it was terrible in every way, shape and form.

I don't think any plans have been scheduled yet for PBS, but hopefully before Ken and Kelli leave it'll be recorded.

I really want to get thickets when they record the performance. I missed South Pacific and would love to watch King and I

On West End Frame they published a post today today where they said that there are open audition of the rumored transfer and Baz Bamigboye - columnist of daily mail and super expert of West End (when he says something it means it's not a rumor anymore, he's the first who announced the transfer of Lady Day and other stuff; his tweets generally preceed official announcements) - said that it's happening, with Kelli in it.

Well things are starting to look up gross-wise for the show, so as long as there's no further slump, I don't see why they wouldn't keep it open till the end of the year. The fact that LTC is coproducing Falsettos at the very least indicates that the Beaumont will have a tenant in the fall!

RE: Conrad Ricamora, he's just been upgraded to a series regular from a special guest star on How to Get Away with Murder, which looks to me like he'll be departing The King and I to shoot the third season soon.

Isn't Falsettos going into the Kerr? Regardless, do the non-theater people go to The King & I for Kelli? I hope the show will still be a success! It's a great production of an excellent show.

Should I rush to see this with Kelli? I've never seen Marin Mazzie before.

I've never seen Marin Mazzie give anything less than a sterling performance, even in roles where she wasn't ideally cast. If you want to see Kelli, see Kelli -- but I doubt anyone will be disappointed in Marin's performance.

Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe." -John Guare, Landscape of the Body

I'll second that. Mazzie is always an excellent performer. She'll be great in this role. I'm looking forward to seeing her.

My bad - I meant to say that because LTC is coproducing Falsettos in the fall at the Kerr and not at the Beaumont, indicates that a production will still be in the Beaumont (whether it's The King and I or not, I'm not sure). It's like how they coproduced A View from the Bridge last fall.

I think in this case, the use of a different theatre and the Kerr in particular is more due to Jordan Roth's involvement. If LTC is planning to run The King and I through the fall or to open another production at the Beaumont altogether, you're definitely still correct, though.

I'm surprised that no one has reported in on the return of Ken Watanabe to the role of the King.

I've missed those discussions of whether Ken could be understood or not.

Much clearer than when I saw it last year (2nd preview). He seems more comfortable in the role, too.

This is all speculation, but yesterday Ashley Park instagrammed a rehearsal pic from Disney Theatrical yesterday with Jason Gotay could she be departing the show soon and joining the cast of Aladdin?

The leads on Broadway just re-upped their contracts for another year, so if this was for anything Aladdin related, it would be for a new production of the show.

That being said, DTP always has things in the works. Their rumored "next to the stage" list grows each week, so we have no reason to speculate on any specific show, really. I could see Gotay and Park as Aladdin and Jasmine, but I'm not reading into it at all.

Just bought my Tickets for May 3rd (thank you LincTix). So excited to be there when she walks back onstage after her long battle. She looks great in the dress too! The New York Theatre Community will welcome you back Marin with warm arms.

I don't want to upset anyone, but Marin is not returning to Broadway after her victory over cancer. Diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer, she is still fighting for her life. This will make her return to a starring role in a hit Broadway show even more magnificent.

My sister died of ovarian cancer in 1989 at age 41. The great Gilda Radner died of the same four days later. In the ensuing 25+ years, science has made no significant progress in fighting the disease, despite the supposed expenditure of billions of dollars in research.

Perhaps the government should take a "Manhattan Project" approach to the fight against cancer. Take the greatest scientific and medical minds in the country, confine them to a hidden and sequestered compound in the desert, give them all the money and resources that they could possibly use, and don't let them out until they succeed.

It took only four years to create the first atomic bomb and detonate it on top of thousands of poor Japanese civilians living in wooden slums.

Oops, I've gone off topic with this comment. My apologies.

I'm sorry for your sister. But you are wrong about the science.

It cannot help your sister and it could not help my mother, who died of ovarian in 1994, but new treatments with increased efficacy are helping more and more women like Marin.

Your experience is sad, as is mine, but our past experiences are not the current experiences of other patients and their loved ones.

Be more careful with your words.

So many talented performers have brought their fight with cancer public in the past few years. Any return after the disease is miraculous and celebrated.

That being said, Marin looks stunning in her full costume. The pictures of her in rehearsal with Daniel Dae Kim showed so much joy.

The term - and feeling of - VICTORY over cancer is an important one.

When one receives word that the cancer one has been fighting is gone, it is absolutely a victory.   The knowledge that you must continue to be tested and that you are at risk for recurrence, or that the remission will end, isn't what you focus on.  You honor that knowledge, but you embrace the victory.

This is a huge step for Marin Mazzie and I'm thrilled for her.   Her castmate, Ashley Park, is also a cancer survivor.  Seeing them live their lives and triumph gives hope and strength to so many.

Too many aren't able to survive.  My heartfelt condolences to all who have lost loved ones to cancer.  (I join you in having lost family and friends).

Those who are able to fight to remission or cure must celebrate that victory.
