Ahhhh so many of us will be there! I've never seen Kelli live, so to say I'm excited would be a drastic understatement.

She doesn't have an alternate, so one day a week off has not been built into her contract. Just like ordinary jobs, she get a certain number of sick days to use. (And vacation days)

You do realize that everyone in the show gets 1 day off a week, right? 8 shows are performed in a 6-day period. May 4 is a Monday, which is her and the rest of the comapny's day off. Just like in ordinary jobs, people get at least 1 day off a week that is not sick nor vacation time.

The Broadway and West End Valjeans get one show off a week, but the alternate is not officially named as such (publicly, anyway). Probably because they rotate two. But just because one doesn't have a publicized alternate doesn't mean you're only doing 7 shows a week.

"Just like in ordinary jobs, people get at least 1 day off a week that is not sick nor vacation time. "

Fosse76, what an odd way of looking at things.

So your thought is that people who work a normal M-F workweek actually have two days off work every week? Most people wouldn't consider those days off unless they "should" be working -- like for example they were off work on Tuesday. Will most people say I was off work last Sunday when they never work Sunday? I'm sorry, but your point totally eludes me. I'm sure the original question referred to "missing a performance that is going on" not merely having a day off.

Yes but a M-F workweek is not the same as working a Broadway schedule. You may not consider your weekends as "days off" but it sure is a luxury to have a weekend "off" when you're a performer.

Is this show demanding of alternate? I'd think not.

Someone please take a theater pic or curtain pic!

Yes, I know. I was referring to a PERFORMANCE day off.

Not sure if this has been mentioned but there are forms to pre-order the cast recording at the theatre! Didn't even think that was announced but I'm called there will be!

It's great! Kelli is as great as expected. Watanabe has a wonderful and commanding stage presence but is very hard to understand. Most of his lines and lyrics are not coming through.

The overture sounded truncated and rearranged, big no no. But the EPIC entrance of the opening ship absolutely made up for it. Amazing. Won't spoil it.

Tuptim and Lady Thiang are both stunning. Beautiful voices.

A servant almost fell into the pit in a early scene, the audience gasped.

They have to work on the pacing still, but this is going to be an absolutely stunning production. Can't wait for act 2.

Besides a few technical glitches and what appeared to be someone falling off the stage, this is GLORIOUS so far.

Also. The Puzzlement reprise is included, which is great.
Audience members around me are complaining about Wantanbe, also having trouble with his dictation and the singing, but the singing isn't the problem for the me.

I'm up in the Loge. Looks beautiful but cannot understand a word Mr. Watanabe is saying. Kelli is fantastic. Something Wonderful was beautiful as well.

I don't think the boat entrance should be spoiled, it's as exciting as the orchestra reveal in the SP revival.

Set is simple but extremely elegant. Updated On: 3/12/15 at 09:58 PM

Kelli is great but I cannot understand a thing Watanabe is saying/singing. His performance is not detracting much from the overall experience - what a beautiful set!

In the loge as well; God this production is beautiful.
I'm actually with my dad, who saw Yul in one of the 1970s revivals; one of his few stage memories so him seeing this has been a real treat.
Also, I'm gonna predict Ruthie Ann Milles is getting a Tony nod for this; she's glorious.
And that boat- dear god I love Lincoln Center for putting enough money into this show for a moment like that.
