I wonder what theatre they will use for this production. Possibly the Neil Simon or the Broadway?

Anyone have any guesses as to what house this takes? Obviously, it's looking to be a commercial run... I'm gonna go out on a limb here and put my money on the Schoenfeld.

It's going into a Shubert theater. The Imperial is my guess. I don't see Les Miserables lasting past the summer.

As for the 2 months of previews, I think the plan/hope is to have the holidays and the Fiddler brand carry them through November and December and then when sales start to drop in January the (hopefully positive) reviews will boost demand and get them through the winter. Worked for Beautiful, failed for Honeymoon in Vegas.

China Doll is going into the Schoenfeld. Doctor Zhivago and Gigi haven't even opened yet so I doubt the Shuberts would just be giving out theaters like that...especially if they already have dates. My money's on the Belasco. How many more Hedwigs are they gonna get?

You really think Les Mis is gonna close? Theyre looking for a new Jean Valjean after Ramin leaves in August. If Fiddler comes in, that means that they would have to be out of there by October. It didnt seem to me like they were going to close soon but who knows

gigi is not in a Shubert house. (and it is DOA wherever it is. Zhivago probably is too.) Word on the street is the Imperial.

I'll second that 2 months of previews is a lot for any show, but especially long for a revival.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

I KNEW THAT! LOL

With all of these announcements recently, I got confused between 2016 and 2017. In that case, I could see the Belasco. Though, it might be a bit *too* intimate.

Yawn

How constantly reviving this will appeal to younger audiences escapes me.

"Wonder what theatre they're aiming for? My guess would be The Winter Garden after Wolf Hall or the Imperial."

They would not be aiming for the winter garden because ALW has that book for school of rock. I think the Imperial would be smart, because i have a feeling when ramin leaves les mis les mis will leave as well.

I'd say the Imperial is most likely or the Broadway.

Considering that I am not of the mindset that Les Miserables's only selling because of Ramin, I can't see this show closing in time for Fiddler to come in. Not at all.

Everything about this revival (aside from the Danny Burstein casting, which I think is wonderful and will get me to see this) is strange to me. I am very curious to see what the marketing, theater choice and production itself has to offer that the last few Fiddlers did not.

First off, it's great that the revival is opening in December instead of January. Bartlett Sher getting the great crew he's worked with for SOUTH PACIFIC and THE KING AND I was a smart move and it's playing at the Broadway, where the original ran in during it's original run. Is the artwork on the BWW article the official one? If so then it looks great.

SO EXCITING!!

I guess it's too much to dream that Kelli O'Hara will join the cast... Is that even possible??

I think so, Bartlett Sher always had worked on revivals that use new costumes/sets etc. A Yeargan/Zuber/Holder designed FIDDLER screams of perfect!

Fiddler on the Roof is the first musical I ever saw in NY….back in the early 70s.

It left an impression on me, even though I was rather young.

I'm hoping this revival is still running come next spring for my trip to NYC.  It, along with She Loves Me, are the two revivals I really want to see.

I wonder what the new production's choreographer Hofesh Shecther will bring to the table when it comes to "based on original conceptions and dances by Jerome Robbins". If it's just like what Joshua Bergasse did in ON THE TOWN and Christopher Gattelli's work on THE KING AND I; then I'm in.
