A friend of mine on facebook said they were looking forward to seeing Nathan Lee Graham in the role. I'm not sure if it was purely their wishful thinking, or if he's up for the tour, but he seems like a good fit.
I was recently wondering the same thing. If Billy is indeed leaving they should be announceing any day now. Also since Jeanna is now involved in Finding Neverland a replacement for Lauren should be announced soon as well.
so who's replacing Burton in Violet as Foster's standby??
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
I think RuPaul would be a great replacement for the show, even if just for a couple of weeks. As Drag Race season 7 starts filming in the summer, I'm doubtful he'd be the replacement for Billy unless an understudy performed until around the end of August. I'm not too sure how well he'd handle the dramatic scenes, but the comedy and singing would be spot on.
Do we know for sure that Billy is leaving anytime soon? When asked (in April) how long he will stay with the show he said
Porter: As long as I can. Until something better comes along and that's a really tall order. I've gotten really picky in terms of where I'm going to go next as a performer. It's not going to be just anything. You know what I mean? The role is too good. The experience is too complete. The paycheck is fierce. I didn't shop for 13 years. I like clothes and cute things!
As long as his contract keeps getting renewed, I can't imagine he's be in any hurry to leave. As he himself has said, he's making great money for the first time after a lot of lean years.
"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe."
-John Guare, Landscape of the Body
What I admire most about Billy, is his performance changes every time I see it, as he is always finding new fresh ways to spruce up songs or scenes. He is so IN it, that it's just plain refreshing.
VotePeron- That's interesting. When I saw the show in October, Billy looked like he hated his job and phoned in his performance. He was not fresh at all.
Coleman Domingo. I don't know how he would look but I know how he would sound! BRILLIANT!
"Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there - fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaky feeling you'll find that love actually is all around."
