When they cancelled the movie theater showings they had to know this wouldn't do well live either.

For those curious about the ticket pricing, this is a seating chart reflecting price levels for the stop in Cleveland. Most venues were very similar. (And don't forget the approximately $15-20 extra you would have paid in convenience fees).

I'm just guessing, but I would say this simply wasn't selling. AT ALL.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

I also balked at the ticket prices, but when Groupon and Living Social both pitched half price deals, I bit. Oh, well.

This could not have been as bad as the revival on Broadway 2 years ago. The night I saw it, it was a disaster.

I was sent to review the show in Manchester, UK by my editor and have to say i rather enjoyed it. We however were sat at the front (press tickets) i can very clearly see why people would not want to pay those prices at the back of the arena. The production is pretty spectacular but it's an empty shell production, no emotion, though to be fair, thats JCS for you.

Typical in that I purchased my tickets and it appeared that I actually landed good (but expensive) seats at Madison Square Garden which seemed like a first for me. I was looking forward to seeing this show for the first time.

I don't quite understand how something so massive could be planned without any feasibility studies beforehand. I feel so bad for the actors and crew involved who were hanging their hats on steady work for a while. Felt the same way when "A Night with Janis Joplin" recently abruptly cancelled their Broadway to Off Broadway planned and announced transfer. What gives with the management? Please stop wasting people's time.

"though to be fair, thats JCS for you."

That's so true. And it's pretty clear that they have wrung the last drop of blood out of this particular turnip.

So what happened? An investor pulled out, or was it because of low sales?

Both. Low sales caused the investor to pull out.

I was considering going as I have never seen a production, then I saw that clip of Williams destroying my favorite song from the show and I was like, "Im out."

Dinner theatre stars for $200 bucks. Ugh no.

Also, I think the photos of the actors throwing the finger is very crass and unprofessional.

I had the same reaction to that photo.

And also, dinner theater with no dinner.

I was totally gonna go with one of what I presumed was going to be a massively reduced last minute ticket price just to see Johnny Rotten, even though I knew that would be less than 10 minutes of the lugubrious show. I say that as a person who saw the first concert tour, before they ever staged it like a theater piece.

So, no one cared about seeing one third of Destiny's Child or JC Chasez?

Shocker.

It's very unfortunate that this was cancelled as many talented cast, crew, and designers were involved in this project and spent countless hours working on it. It's also unfortunate that money was spent, and in the end, wasted, on the development of this project. However, I think this tour was a very very poor business decision on behalf of a lot of people and for the sake of the artists involved, I hope that in the future, a better plan will be put together before producing such a large and costly production.

ALW seems to passionate about JCS so I hope this makes him consider a revival of the show on Broadway or London.

Congratulations on coming round from your coma. Or are you ACTUALLY a goldfish? It's the only scenarios that make sense of this for me. Either way I think you missed your chance til at least 2020.. Even Sweeney Todd doesn't get that kind of special treatment.

Their point, however rudely made, being that the last revival was only a couple of years ago, and it didn't blow anyone's socks off. Nor did the one twelve years prior to that.

Hopefully, Ben Forster has another opportunity to break into America. I think we have to give him that opportunity.

I seem to be one of the few people who had actually bought tickets to this (and at full price). I'm not too disappointed to be getting my $112 back. Interestingly, there are giant billboards all over Toronto advertising the show. I was really surprised that they'd spend so much on advertising for a one-night-only event. I wonder how long it will take for the billboards to be taken down...

between spiderman and now this Michael Cohl should be stripped of his theatrical producing rights, and if i'm correct he was a lead producer on Janis Joplin as well right? 3 strikes dude, now get the **** out.

It's been advertised on TV like crazy here in Boston, I haven't seen the commercial today (Sunday) but definitely saw it yesterday! (I didn't notice how many days it was scheduled for in this area. I do know it wasn't Boston proper. likely central or western part of the state.)

It was all over TV here in NYC. The commercials stopped about 2 days ago.
