I have a trip to NY planned for October and I intend to watch as many shows as I can. But, looking for the dates, seems there won't be much plays on Broadway.
My question is: do you guys have any info about play productions, original or revival, planned for this year? Is it likely that most won't open until 2019?
I think The Ferryman, The Nap and Torch Song would be great choices for plays, right?

The new musicals opening these days are BLEAK."
Ditto on the thanks to BroadwayConcierge!
And ditto on how terrible this and next season look for new musicals. I'm keeping fingers crossed that The Prom might be a lot of fun, but the creative team behind The Wedding Singer isn't giving me GREAT hope. And maybe The Cher Show could be a lot of fun, but even with her amazing catalog of songs (and looks!), how many bio-musicals do we need?
At least this season gave us The Band's Visit, which I adore. And I confess I love SpongeBob in all its inanity and insanity. But Margaritaville was one of the worst things I've ever seen, Summer looks like a hot mess, and as much as I liked Frozen, the movie, the show is just sooooo blah. I also love Mean Girls the movie and disliked the show (minus the amazing Grey Henson). And...we're all pretending Prince of Broadway never happened, right?
I guess we can hope that King Kong, Pretty Woman, or Head Over Heels ends up being shockingly better than we have reason to expect, but...it's not an inspiring list, that's to be sure.
Secret Garden revival has been confirmed, but the dates/venue haven't been set yet. I almost cried when I found out though, it's one of my absolute favorite shows and I feel like it doesn't get enough recognition, so I can't wait for it!
you found your heart but left a part of you behind <3
Are there any rumblings for a transfer of Ride The Cyclone?

This would be a GREAT season for "Hadestown" to come in. What an odd assortment of musicals so far. (Also would be a great season for "Moulin Rouge" if they had the right venue.)

The show was announced as part of the alliance theatres season. Anyone know if it’s the same production that has been traveling around or an entirely new one?

New Musicals • The Cher Show • Gettin' the Band Back Together • Head Over Heels • King Kong • Pretty Woman • The Prom
Nothing jumps out that says potential Best New Musical Tony?? My hope is that The Cher Show is just absolutely amazing. There's also the likelihood of Ain't Too Proud & Jagged Little Pill opening for this season as well. So it already looks slightly more promising than this current season.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

IfMoulin!,Hadestown,Jagged Little Pill, andAin't Too Proudall come in, then there's some competition."
Forgot about Moulin Rouge and Hadestown. Definitely much stronger than this season. Obviously, it might be an issue of finding a theater. For revivals, hoping for Crazy For You, Dreamgirls and Sweet Charity.

I’d like to take another minute to thank Broadway Concierge for updating this thread. It’s extremely helpful and concise. Sometimes it’s hard to keep track of all the announcements and what’s really official.
