"It's just remarkable that someone so devoid of charm or personality could be an escort at all."
To misquote Tessie Tura, all you need to be an escort is no charm or personality. The days of Madame de Pompadour and Denny Fouts are long past, and now the major aspect of being a hooker is just showing up.
Maybe for Season Two, they can find a more appealing hooker to play Prince Charming. (Although I still don't understand the premise of a reality show in which a bunch of gay guys compete to win the affections of an escort they could just purchase online.)
And I didn't watch the show--can somebody tell me exactly what he did with squirting something into his urethra? (And how exactly did they show that on television?)
I don't think that the show is as bad as many of you are making if out to be. I think Robert is attractive actually and the mask episode where a suitor revealed he was HIV positive that resulted in another reveal about Robert's Uncle dying of AIDS was very touching. I understand they wanted a variety of personalities but I think they should have cast Alpha Dominant suitors because it is obvious that is What Robert is in to. Although I do have to say that the flamboyant suitor Robby was very funny and totally in control of his comic abilities. It almost felt like he was auditioning for his own show.
They tried something similar to this years ago but the formula was offensive because some of the guys were straight....I was also thinking FOX tried something many years back but advertisers were so revolted that they snatched if off the air. At least we live in a time when shows like this can be made,
^ Had they cast the show exclusively with "Alpha Dominant" suitors, imagine the backlash that would have come Logo's way for ignoring the diversity in the gay community! The fact that they started this show with such a variety of contestants speaks well of the producers' original intent to include ripped guys, unripped guys, bearish guys, swishy guys, Alpha males and hyper-sensitive types. If the last men standing all happen to be butch, built, and dominant, that's all to do with Robert's picks, not the producers'.
And honestly, think how tough it must have been to find even 12 gullible suckers to cast this show's suitors in the first place!
Awful show. Don't like the "Prince", don't like the show, don't like the self-proclaimed designated life-of-the-party Robby (who was clearly only there to promote himself as a reality TV personality). I truly don't get the appeal of Robby at all. Unless maybe he is just your first exposure to this particular brand of stereotype he's hawking. From the moment he announced himself with "The party's arrived, bitches!" (or whatever variation he shouted), I was immediately tired of him. I just don't have the energy to devote to someone who pushes so hard to be the funniest and gayest character of all time in every moment. Carson Kressley was funnier, subtler by comparison, and way more original.

I actually think Alpha Dominant casting would have been very interesting. I think we have moved beyond politically correct....its just that why cast guys that The Prince would have no interest in. It was clear who the sisters were and who were possible suitors before the first episode was over.
To me the guy from Chicago was the most revolting. He was homophobic, an alcoholic and far from evolved.
What is slightly annoying is that Robert wants everyone to reveal themselves yet he is doing very little to reveal much about himself. His Rent Boy history and fetish videos actually make him a little more interesting...Brandon is a good physical match but guys in sobriety usually need to be with other guys in sobriety...and I am not sure if he is Verse.....
I would love Robbie to be the next Prince Charming. He's so adorable and likable, and I'd love to watch a whole season of him. I find the Prince to be incredibly dull, and the rest of the contestants to be pretty dull as well. It's not a very exciting show.

Really? I actually found that info, together with his botox, spray-tan and manscaping, to make him so much more dull. Just your garden variety WeHo trend-hopper you can find all over any gay-related website (of any sort) or channel.

Ugh. I could barely get through one episode that featured him occasionally. No doubt you'll get your wish, though. He is working hard to be a Gay Housewife or Jenner-Kardashian in the trash-reality-celeb-gossip-media circuit, and the destestable and useless do seem to have an audience as long as they are ambitious and wealthy enough to earn the attentions of an Andy Cohen. I've never understood the appeal of that crap.

newintown said: "What's with this "Alpha Dominant" euphemism? Why don't you say what you mean - "straight-acting power-top?"
"Because I was talking more about personality traits and this is not a no holes barred gay chat board. Given that minors are on this board I was being respectful. And at the end of the day what does it matter? You got my drift although many Alpha Dominants are not straight acting. I have not met very many straight acting gay men over the years even though many thought they were.
I kind of thought he would pick Brandon given that he probably was well aware that a lifelong relationship would probably not develop from a reality dating show but I think the sobriety issue itself made them incompatible.
Despite all of the negative comments on here I do think that the support the final contestants gave one another and the grace that the HIV information was handled raised the bar for the show. And Robert's feelings about being objectified created a sense of empathy.
He said that after Escorting he was objectified when dating and he never knew if men were into to him for his looks or who he was as a person. So I think it was more of a carry over from the industry he had worked in and not so much about him thinking that he was so attractive that everyone objectified him. He also was known to have a very large attribute that proved to be an asset while escorting.
Did anyone really find his plastic looks attractive? And as for big attributes, I believe that his former line of work, big attributes are a dime a dozen.
Will he go back to escorting now that the show is over?
Rumour has it...he never left. I just finished watching the finale. It was so dull and boring. I had more fun turning back my clocks. Maybe the reunion will have some fireworks.
It was interesting that Robert chose to reveal the whole Escorting thing in such a dramatic fashion. Maybe it was storyboarded that way by the producers for some drama. It came across like he had some regrets and I am not really sure that was the case.
I read an article that he had two close family members die and he left a very bad relationship right before he started filming.
FYI, in Dillon's exit interview he suggests that Robert fell head over heals for Eric from the minute they met in that very first episode, and according to Dillon, all the suitors in the house were aware of that. Though I believe Brandon when he says in his exit interview that he always envisioned this show as actually being his own love story with Robert, and he was apparently really crushed when that final black-tie ritual took place.
Easy to pooh-pooh the show, but hey, that's the definition of a guilty pleasure, right? I'll sure tune in for Season 2, praying all the while that Prince Charming #2 is a lot closer to Brandon than Robert.
