"Michelle Obama’s speech was one for the ages. Brilliant."
She could have read the phone book and this board would have found it brilliant. Did everybody feel a "tingle" up their leg during her speech? This board giving a review of her speech at this convention is about as objective as a Hannity interview of Trump. She is attractive former FLOTUS who gave a good speech, I would not call it brilliant. If Melania Trump speaks at RNC convention next week, I can predict everything about it will be mocked -lol.

If Michelle Obama were to read the phone book, this board would find it brilliant because she would bring to it the same grace, compassion, and respect that have defined her entire life and career. She would understand that every person listed in that phone book is deserving of the life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness promised to them by this country's Declaration of Independence, and she would work to ensure that those rights are protected and championed.
Melania Trump, on the other hand, has proven that she "really doesn't care" about America or Americans, and she has been perfectly content to sit in the shadows for the last three and a half years while her husband's policies and actions (or lack thereof) have directly harmed the lives and livelihoods of so many. Any speech she may make will be mocked because it will be nothing but BS.
Tonight's speakers highlight the "rising stars" of the Democratic Party, including Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the nemesis of that "other party". Democrats can rightly pride ourselves for our diversity.
That Kennedy boy has grown into a fine looking young man....
I know doing remote speeches is kind of difficult but I was surprised more people could not overcome the situation. The majority of the speeches were rather stiff. Some of the best moments were by every day people using their cell phone cameras. Perhaps Oprah could have interviewed the speakers rather than having them read off of cue cards....allowing them to be emotionally invested....it would have been interesting to turn it all over to Michael Moore....The intent is there...and the sincerity....just needs a twist.
I wonder why Biden’s daughter isn’t more of a mouthpiece for him.
I did like the roll call from the 50 states and territories. A strong concept that worked. Biden looks 10 years younger when he is with Jill.
Speaking as an independent voter, I could not possibly vote for Biden.
1. I am very uneasy and uncomfortable about placing our nuclear arsenal and hugely dangerous weapons in the hands of a man who obviously is suffering from early dementia. I have seen videos in which he does not even know where he is at or who he is talking to, and saying stuff like, “I support truth over fact.” Some Democrats are even advising him not to debate Trump or even answer questions about his mental health. Not good.
2. Another thing that makes me uncomfortable is all the violence in Democratic cities where Democratic mayors, like in Portland and in Chicago are completely ineffective. My community is a safe, peaceful integrated one in the Midwest. People worked hard all their lives to live here. The last thing we want is to end up like Chicago or Portland, a battleground. You cannot blame people who live in peaceful suburbs and small towns across America for wanting to protect their life and towns from violence and mob chaos. I have yet to see the Democratic Party stand up to the violent mobs.
3. Another very serious problem with Biden and the Democrats: Do they intend on flooding the nation with illegal aliens, then give them free health care? Does open borders mean the dissolution of citizenship under our constitution? Is there enough money in our treasury to support free health care for tens of millions of illegal aliens, and will our taxes go up by several hundred percent to support free health care for millions of illegals?
4. Biden, a person suffering from dementia, who has a miniscule background in business, running the world’s largest economy? That is downright scary. Before the pandemic, our economy was really steaming with very low unemployment. This is where Trump shines. Correcting our trade issues is excellent. Getting back all the industries, such as electronics, that have been exported to other countries is exceedingly important. It is all about jobs, jobs, jobs.
5. Being a war veteran, it did disappoint me to see the entire Democratic Party in the House charge Trump with a crime and deny him his due process rights under the constitution. 1.6 million soldiers died for that constitution and the flag. To see the constitution trashed by the Democrats is incredibly offensive to all those who served and those who died for our country. That is the topper for me. Just cannot vote for these kinds of people.
6. The last stunt they pulled is also a show stopper – recruiting a mournful woman whose father was a Trump supporter and (she) blaming Trump for his Covid19 death. No, these people proved right there they do not have the leadership qualities to run the USA. Embarrassing.
Having said all this, I would have thought very carefully about voting Democratic if Gore was the Presidential candidate, and Amy Klobuchar his VP candidate. I did vote for Gore when he ran against Bush. He makes a lot of sense, has a sound grasp of environmental issues, and, I’m sure, would turn away those who seek to tear down our Republic and offend our service men and women.
Chicagodannyd, That is one of the most uninformed, illogical, nonsensical, falsehood filled things I have seen in quite some time. Good job. You are NOT an uniformed voter. You are a gaslit voter.
Just checked in to see if this thread has all the classic Broadway World Presidential Election Thread tropes that it has since the beginning, And it DOES. Smart posts. Disingenuous posts. (like tilted summaries of "this board" responses framed as psychic predictions but only posted after the fact). Willfully Stupid posts and most familiar of all, posts by "Independents" who think that gives their constant hard right opinions some kind of credibility. In this world there is a kind of painful progress. Just not here.
My vote this November is for Hillary Clinton and Kamala Harris. My vote is for for the future of this country and the millions who have been disenfranchised, beaten, and killed. My vote is for my ancestors, who were driven from their land after treaties and promises were broken like so much rubbish, as though their lives had no purpose and their traditions worthless. I vote with less optimism than I had 4 years ago, when for one glorious day, I allowed myself to believe that my hero would finally shatter that highest, hardest glass ceiling, but I vote with grit, determination, and hope for what this country can be and what we have the power to make it become.

^^^ I like it. Melania will probably steal it for her RNC speech. Also, she has made it clear that will be the ONLY campaigning she does for her current husband this time around. Be(eg) B(r)e(a)st.
