I saw this last evening and found it to be a mixed bag. I was very excited for this production; I've enjoyed what I've seen by Stephen Adly Guirgis in the past, and thought that a play about a women's halfway house provided an interesting setting and the opportunity for some rich characters and story lines. What ended up happening, though, is that Guirgis seemed to try and cram in as many of these plotlines as possible, leaving us with an unfocused and overstuffed play that doesn&

They already have 1776 programmed for their 2020-21 season, so I would expect this until the 2021-22 season at the earliest (if it's still a possibility at all).
SEARED is in the Susan & Ronald Frankel Theater, which is the black box venue in MCC's new space. THE WRONG MAN is in their traditional proscenium theater, the Newman Mills. SEARED has a proscenium set-up (you can see the seating chart online if you go to buy tickets), but it's in the black box.

If I had to bet, she is likely making more money on this project then she has on all of her prior work combined."
While I'm sure Nottage's paycheck for this project is handsome, let's not pretend like this is her one shot to make a living in the theatre.
Unless another new musical is announced (which, of course, is totally possible), there will be only four nominees for best musical this year, not five. The Tony rules and regulations state that there shall be five nominees only if there are nine eligible productions for nomination in a specific category, and only eight new musicals have been announced thus far.
Agreed re: the Lortel. Congrats to MCC for opening their new Hell's Kitchen space, but I'm going to miss heading down to Christopher Street to catch their stuff.
I saw this yesterday afternoon and enjoyed it more than I was expecting, especially after the initially tepid word of mouth on here. All three principles (Joshua Henry, Ciara Renee, and Ryan Vasquez) are quite charismatic and in excellent voice, with Henry delivering a particularly powerhouse performance. I enjoyed much of the music, and am hoping there'll be a cast recording to preserve these vocals and Alex Lacamoire's arrangments. There were aspects of writing and production that I

I feel as if the same could be said about Victoria Clark, and she was one of the brightest spots of the 2017 Encores! production. Singing aside, there's still a lot to sink into with Moore, and I look forward to seeing Kuhn take it on.
The thread title also had me excited that this was the Menken version!
I believe someone said on here a few weeks back that a Christmas show was supposed to be coming into the Lyceum, so I'm guessing that's where this ends up.

I know a lot make money and keep people employed. However, the perception of Broadway as a theme park like Disneyland is real. That means the familiarity quotient for every show is emphasized, i.e., the tourist dollars that make up over 60% of ticket buyers. Healthy for business (especially the Disney juggernaut that eats up everything) but stinks for artistic endeavors. Calling O'Neill, Williams and Miller.&quo
If Jackman plays a 7 performance schedule and Rudin finds an alternate for that 8th performance, I would love to see Gavin Creel in the role. He has the relationship with Rudin, terrific chemistry with Sutton, and the charm to pull it off.
Four new musicals announced for the 2019-2020 season and we still don't have an original score!

The show had a last minute venue change from The Theater Center (selling through Ticketmaster) to the Peter Jay Sharp Theater at Playwrights Horizons (selling through Ticket Central), which is why the event is listed as cancelled on Ticketmaster.
