MET to Present THE LIEUTENANT OF INISHMORE, 4/10-5/4

Maryland Ensemble Theatre (MET) will present Martin McDonagh's award winning play 'The Lieutenant of Inishmore'. The dark Irish comedy will be directed by MET's founding Artistic Director, Tad Janes. 'The Lieutenant of Inishmore' is a play that grabs you with comedy and takes you on a ride like no other play I know', said Janes. 'I've always been a fan of McDonagh's plays. They are always funny, quirky, and have interesting themes and characters. When we selected plays for the season this one was a clear favorite within the Ensemble' 'The Lieutenant of Inishmore' will run every Thursday through Sunday (except Easter Sunday) at Maryland Ensemble Theatre from April 10 through May 4.

The Bromo Tower Arts District has elected Vincent M. Lancisi its new Board President. Lancisi, the Founding Artistic Director of Everyman Theatre, replaces Jeff Daniel, the Bromo Arts Founding Chair and Executive Vice President of Broadway Across America.
Other Voices Theatre to Present 18th Annual Production of THE NEW ADVENTURES OF ALICE IN WONDERLAND, 4/18-19

Local theater group, Other Voices, is in the midst of rehearsals for their annual springtime production of The New Adventures of Alice in Wonderland at The Weinberg Center for the Arts. The cast is a mix of Frederick acting icons, like Julie Herber and Joann Lee (hailing from The MET) reprising their respective Red and White Queen roles. Jeremy Trammelle (Mad Hatter), Shawn Nakia (White Rabbit), and Amanda Patten (The Duchess) are also joining the cast. Other Voices is excited to introduce Miss Charley Bennett in the featured role of Alice.

CCBC Performing Arts Open House Set for 4/5

The Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC) is hosting its annual OPEN HOUSE for all high school students interested in Theatre, Music or Dance at CCBC. The Performing Arts at CCBC Open House will be held in the Recital Hall in the Arts and Humanities Hall at CCBC Essex, 7201 Rossville Boulevard and will discuss programs on all CCBC campuses. The formal program starts at 10 a.m. with tours following. Auditions for scholarship opportunities will begin after the tours.

Academic Theatre at CCBC and the Community Book Connection present 'The Consumables,' an original work inspired by themes from David Shipler's book, 'The Working Poor.' Based on actual interviews with workers from the Baltimore area about their experiences working in low- and minimum-wage jobs, the play is the creation of Anthony Bianco, Musical director, Melinda Blomquist, choreographer and Julie Lewis, director. The production features original music performed by local pianist and composer Bianco of Essex, who has been part of the creation process from the beginning.
