The Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC) is hosting its annual OPEN HOUSE for all high school students interested in Theatre, Music or Dance at CCBC. The Performing Arts at CCBC Open House will be held in the Recital Hall in the Arts and Humanities Hall at CCBC Essex, 7201 Rossville Boulevard and will discuss programs on all CCBC campuses. The formal program starts at 10 a.m. with tours following. Auditions for scholarship opportunities will begin after the tours.

With 40 students, 19 designers, and three directors spanning three performance groups, Imagination Stage's conservatories and ensemble take the term "recital" to a whole new level. This spring's productions, featuring students in grades 4-11, are all directed by practicing professional theatre artists who are well-respected in the DC-metro theatre scene. This year's directors include Randy Baker, co-artistic director of Rorschach Theatre, Dawn Naser, professor at Howard University's College of Arts and Sciences, and Katie Keddell, arts administrator for Young Audiences/Arts for Learning. Students will showcase their talents in three exciting productions including the classic musical Godspell; a profound play for young audiences entitled Still Life With Iris; and the world premiere of Interface, conceptualized by the students themselves.

2014 Young Playwrights Festival Honorees Announced

Center Stage has announced the honorees for this year's Young Playwrights Festival, an annual competition that welcomes Maryland students in grades K-12 to submit original scripts. This year, student playwrights submitted nearly 500 plays. The plays selected will be showcased with workshops, in-school performances, and select pieces will be staged at the Annual Young Playwrights Festival performance at Center Stage on Monday, May 5, at 7 pm.

Featured this year are: jazz pianist Alex Brown and bassist Zach Brown. Maryland Ensemble Theatre's (MET) annual Retro Prom is returning for a tenth straight year. The Frederick non-profit theatre company's annual fundraiser has reached new heights in recent years and looks to build on that success this year. A collection of some of Frederick's favorite eateries will cater the event that will be hosted by Master of Ceremonies, the always entertaining theater veteran, Joe Casta. The Prom which will also feature the musical stylings of The Spin Doctor, dancing, door prizes, a silent auction, prom photos, a cash bar and a late night pizza party will be held tonight, March 29th from 7:00-11:30pm at the Talley Recreation Center (121 N.
