Horizon's Season Kicks Off with THE WOLVES

Horizon Theatre Company is kicking off its 35th Anniversary Season with a 2017 Pulitzer Prize Finalist for Drama! The Wolves, a groundbreaking new play by Sarah DeLappe, will hit the Little Five Points stage from January 25 through March 3, 2019. Starting January 31st Elm Street Cultural Arts Village gets the "Once upon a time" treatment with the opening night of Shrek Jr., a ferociously funny and fresh musical based on the hit Dreamworks film and picture book of the same name. Presented by Kragor Orthodontics, Shrek Jr. tells the story of an ogre who takes on a larger than life adventure to reclaim his swamp, meeting a fast-talking donkey, a fiery princess, and a slew of fairy tale creatures along the way.

Now in its seventh year, the university's annual signature event celebrating the television industry will be held at SCADshow on February 7 - 9, 2019. Entertainment Weekly (EW) will serve as the first ever Official Media Partner for SCAD aTVfest.

Core Dance's AMERICAN PLAYGROUND And THE THIRD DANCE Are Just Two Weeks Away!

Core Dance will continue its collaboration with international dance-makers Niv Sheinfeld and Oren Laor when it presents two works by the acclaimed Israeli choreographers: American Playground, a humorous, high-intensity homage to American culture, performed by Core Dance; and the U.S. Premiere of The Third Dance, performed and choreographed by Sheinfeld and Laor, that explores, through dance, the evolution of a relationship over time. The performances are January 31 - February 3, 2019 at 7:30 pm at 7 Stages in Atlanta. Tickets are $20 and are available online at coredance.org.
GTA's February Festival Of Theatre Preparing Laughs For Northeast Georgia Patrons

When the Gainesville Theatre Alliance invented its February Festival of Theatre 10 years ago, a chief goal was to enrich their season with more modern scripts, which traditionally have smaller casts.  In order to provide enough opportunities for the emerging theatre artists they train as the Theatre Dept. for both UNG and Brenau University, producing modern scripts meant doing two different shows at once.  After edging onto the stage testing if enough patrons would show up when their productions competed with each other, GTA discovered there is a BIG appetite in the short days of winter for live theatre - and the February Festival of Theatre became an annual event.

Since his passing in 1981, several of his children have had their own successes, including Cedella, his oldest child, who wrote a children's book , which has now become a stage musical, Bob Marley's Three Little Birds and which will be presented by Synchronicity Theatre in Atlanta from Feb. 1-24.
