Newnan Theatre Company has just announced auditions for "Seussical the Musical," a family-friendly show based on books by Dr. Seuss. This production replaces the previously announced "Fiddler on the Roof," which NTC is unable to present at this time, but hopes to do so sometime in the near future.

Justin Blalock Partners With the Atlanta Symphony in Support of Music Education

Justin Blalock, starting left guard for the Atlanta Falcons, will partner with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra as a spokesman for music education during its "When I Play Music" campaign for music education. Mr. Blalock, who grew up playing tuba at his school, and continues to play drums and guitar, recognizes the impact of both music education and sports on children. He is dedicated to giving back to the youth of Atlanta, and this partnership will unite the educational mission of the Atlanta Symphony with Mr. Blalock's commitment to raise awareness of the benefits of music and sports in the lives of kids.

Casting has been announced for the Atlanta return engagement of the Tony, Grammy and Olivier Award-winning hit musical JERSEY BOYS, the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, playing the Fox Theatre tonight, May 22-June 10 as part of the Fifth Third Bank Broadway in Atlanta 2011-12 season. The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra has announced Concertmaster David Coucheron is the new recipient of The Mabel Dorn Reeder Honorary Chair. The chair, which was first announced in January 2011, was established with a $1.85 million endowment gift from the Mabel Dorn Reeder Foundation. Mr. Coucheron was awarded The Mabel Dorn Reeder Honorary Chair at the Orchestra's annual meeting on Monday, May 14, 2012.

The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra has announced the third annual Rapido! Composition Contest - a competition founded in 2009 by the Atlanta Chamber Players and the Antinori Foundation to promote new chamber music compositions and encourage new compositions by underrepresented composers of all levels of experience. The winner will receive a commission for a full orchestral work to be premiered by the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra in spring of 2014.
