Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Announces Free Concerts, 7/7 & 8/11

The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra will perform two free "Summer Concerts at Symphony Hall" made possible through the generous support of the Charles Loridans Foundation, Inc. The performances will take place on Saturday, July 7, 2012, at 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, August 11, 2012, at 8:00 p.m. in Atlanta Symphony Hall at the Woodruff Arts Center.
SHEDDIN' World Premiere Plays Horizon Theatre, July 13-Aug 19

Bebop meets hip hop as generations collide in Horizon Theatre's second world premiere of the season, Sheddin' by Thomas W. Jones II. The raucous comedy set in an Atlanta backyard follows up on Jones' 2009 hit A Cool Drink A Water, called "an unexpected breath of fresh air" by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The summer hoopla filled with humor echoing the legendary Kings of Comedy kicks off July 13th and continues for a seven-week run through August 19th.
Atlanta Lyric Theatre Adjusts Summer Lineup

Atlanta Lyric Theatre today announced an adjustment to its summer lineup. The Lyric will present the ever-popular bluegrass revival Smoke on the Mountain, starring members of the original Theatre in the Square cast, July 27 - August 5, 2012 at The Earl Smith Strand Theatre (117 N. Park Square, Marietta).

Newnan Theatre Company has announced auditions for "Seussical the Musical," a family-friendly show based on books by Dr. Seuss. This production replaces the previously announced "Fiddler on the Roof," which NTC is unable to present at this time, but hopes to do so sometime in the near future.

Student musicians from the Atlanta area, including members of the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra (ASYO), will perform a side-by-side concert with members of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra on Thursday, June 14, 2012, at 7:30 p.m. in Atlanta Symphony Hall at the Woodruff Arts Center. Youth Orchestra Music Director Jere Flint will lead the musicians in a program featuring Dvo?ak's "New World" Symphony and Mozart's Overture to The Magic Flute.
