Aurora Theatre Academy Opens Enrollment for Fall Classes

School is back in session and that means Aurora Theatre Academy's extensive array of classes are right around the corner. Enrollment is now open for a coveted spot. Aurora Theatre Director of Education, Jaclyn Hofmann, has put together an incredible team of teaching professionals, most of whom you will recognize from professional theatrical productions around Atlanta or from the screen anywhere from Georgia Lottery commercials to HBO. This fall, Aurora Theatre Academy will prepare students of all ages and skill levels to perform like professionals. Acting instruction will be offered for elementary, middle and high school students in the after school hours. There will also be classes for adults and a new preschool acting class for children ages 4 to 6. Located on the square in downtown Lawrenceville, all classes will culminate in a showcase in their exquisite facility.

About Aurora Theatre Academy

Aurora Theatre, being the only professional theatre in Gwinnett County, is the ideal place for young people to study the performing arts. What distinguishes Aurora Theatre Academy from other drama classes is that students have the opportunity to rehearse and perform in a professional theatre, and their instructors are working professionals with years of real-world theatrical experience. In addition to receiving training to be a winner on stage, students build confidence, communication and life skills that will be a valuable part of their bright futures. As a non-profit with a deep commitment to educational outreach, classes are reasonably priced at only $175 for a six- to eight-week session.

Li'l Stars
Pre-K and Kindergarten Students
Li'l Stars is a brand new class! Pre-K and Kindergarten students will act out stories, play drama games, do art work, and more. This class will provide the opportunity for little ones to be creative with their bodies, minds, and voices. It will prepare them to be more comfortable in front of others, and will help the more outgoing child focus on channeling some of that energy in constructive ways. This 6-week course will end with a short performance for family and friends.

Rising Stars
Elementary School Students
The Rising Star classes give students the opportunity to learn what it takes to put on a play. Students will be provided with valuable stage experience, while encouraging teamwork and collaboration with peers. The experience instills a sense of self-confidence in our students. They will be active participants in creating portions of the sets, costumes, and props for these exciting, whirlwind productions presented to family and friends. This fall, 1st and 2nd grade students can enroll in Mini Rising Stars, who will present a performance of Library Mouse.
Master Rising Stars, for 3rd through 5th grade students will work on a performance of The Country Maid. Rising Star Homeschool students will have a special weekday session for 1st-5th grade homeschool students that will culminate in a production of The Country Maid.

Shooting Stars
Middle and High School Students
Middle and high school students have a several great options this semester. Aurora Theatre has acquired a national reputation for producing musicals and until now musical theatre classes have been offered only as a part of our Summer Camp sessions. However, this fall, Middle and High school student can enroll in our Shooting Star Musical Theatre, a class comprised of singing and acting technique, audition preparation and professional etiquette that culminates in a rousing musical showcase. The Acting Edge classes will allow students to take the drama out of life and put it where it belongs – on stage! Through a series of theatre games, exercises, and exploration, the class will become an ensemble of players rehearsing a collection of scenes to be performed for friends and family. Aurora Theatre Academy will also offer an Advanced Acting Edge class for returning students wanting to push to the next level.

Adult Acting
If you have ever wanted to act or maybe just feel more comfortable in front of an audience, it's not too late for you to make the leap. In the Aurora Theatre Academy Adult Acting Class, learn the craft and technique of acting used by the professionals. Work on skills like cold readings, monologue delivery, auditioning with confidence and learn how to succeed in the business of show business.

Each session costs $175 per student. There is a $25.00 first-time student application fee. Pre-booking guarantees your spot in one of our classes. We are limiting enrollment in each class to 15 students.
