Deadline reports that Telsey + Company has commenced casting for a big screen remake of GUYS AND DOLLS at 20th Century Fox. According to the report, Tony Award winner Michael Grandage is set to helm the project.

Recently, it was reported that the studio was considering Hollywood A-listers Channing Tatum and Joseph Gordon-Levitt to take on the roles made famous by Frank Sinatra and Marlon Brando. It remains unclear whether the actors are still up for the parts. In 2005, Grandage helmed a West End revival of the musical starring Ewan McGregor as Sky Masterson and Douglas Hodge as Nathan Detroit.

Featuring music and lyrics by Frank Loesser and a book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows, the show was based on Damon Runyon's short stories about gangsters and gamblers of the 1920s and 1930s. The Broadway musical won the Tony Award for Best Musical when it premiered in 1950. It was adapted for the big screen in 1955. It has since been revived on Broadway three times.

The story follows gambler Nathan Detroit, who wants to set up a floating crap game but lacks the funds to do so. He places a bet with fellow gambler Sky Masterson that Sky will not succeed in getting missionary Sarah Brown to go with him to Havana. The show features such classics as Luck Be A Lady, and Sit Down, You're Rocking The Boat.
