The Primary Stages School of Theater (PSST) is an interdisciplinary institution where students may hone their skills and develop their careers in a nurturing and collaborative environment. The School provides extensive opportunities for emerging artists, professionals, and life-long learners to collaborate with working professional artists while building strong relationships within the New York theater community.
PSST offers acting courses are designed to simultaneously enable students to refine fundamentals and step outside their comfort zone. Students can perfect monologue technique, build a solo performance, or even spend a weekend sharpening on-camera technique.
Playwriting students learn what it takes to get their ideas on paper.
They also focus on their specialties, from developing the framework of a musical libretto to exploring site-specific and audience interactive pieces. PSST classes let the student experiment in a safe, structured environment.
PSST workshops are essential to kicking creativity into overdrive for actors and playwrights alike.
Andrew Leynse, Artistic Director at Primary Stages expresses, "The added curriculum and workshops will help expand our mission of nurturing emerging talent."
