(Le) Poisson Rouge presents The Songwriter's Orchestra for a one-night only performance on Monday December 21st at 7:30pm. The concert will feature music by Jess Best, Eisa Davis, Magnus Ferguson, Kathryn Gallagher, Olivia Harris and Britton Smith. The Songwriter's Orchestra is an ensemble of 11 orchestral musicians that accompanies talented singer/songwriters in new arrangements of their songs. Magnus Ferguson, the front man for the band Morningsiders, will join the group for the second time. He has toured with them throughout the US and played shows throughout NYC, including at LPR and Lincoln Center. Their track "Empress" reached the #1 viral song on Spotify, and was used in a Starbucks commercial. This concert will feature three songwriters who have performed on Broadway. Britton Smith will return for his second engagement with the group. He has been seen in After Midnight and Fortress of Solitude, and will return to Broadway in Shuffle Along this Spring. Eisa Davis will join the group for the first time. She has appeared on Broadway Passing Strange and has received numerous awards for her playwriting and songwriting. Kathryn Gallagher also premiers with the group. She is currently playing the voice of Martha/guitar in Spring Awakening on Broadway, and recently released her third EP. Olivia Harris has performed throughout the city with her group Olivia and the Parkers at venues such as The Bitter End, Highline Ballroom, Cornelia Street Cafe and EcoFest in Times Square. Jess Best recently released her debut album Gone Baby, and performs throughout NYC, including at 61 Local where she runs the music series Sunday Sounds.

The Songwriter's Orchestra has performed at the Laurie Beechman Theatre and 54 Below to great success. They have previously worked with songwriters Shaina Taub, Sarah Dooley and Grace McLean among others. Every song is presented in a brand new arrangement, transformed from its original form into a new version so the group of 11 string, wind, brass and percussion players can serve as the sole accompaniment. The ensemble is run by arranger Solomon Hoffman, who recently orchestrated Far From Canterbury (NYCFringe Festival), Plath (NYCFringe Festival), and War Lesbian (Dixon Place). The group's producer is Laura Quintela.

The musicians in the ensemble are top classical and musical theatre players that have studied at The Juilliard School, Manhattan School of Music, The New School, and Eastman. This concert will feature Jordan Lee (violin), Kevin Kuh (violin), Elise Frawley (viola), Vivian Ludford (cello), Caroline Sonett (flute), Julie Pacheco (clarinet), Cynthia Jung (bassoon), Anthony Limoncelli (trumpet), Avery Roth-Hawthorne (horn), Mariel Bildsten (trombone), and Andrew Marshall (percussion)

The Songwriter's Orchestra play Le Poisson Rouge (158 Bleeker Street) on 12/21/15 at 7:30pm, doors at 6:30pm. Advanced tickets are $15 and day of show are $20. Both seated tickets (2 item minimum) and standing tickets (no minimum) are available. For tickets, visit lpr.com. For more information go to thesongwritersorchestra.com
