SculptureCenter is pleased to announce the publication of a new portfolio of photographs by: Leslie Hewitt, Marlo Pascual, Erin Shirreff, Kathrin Sonntag and Sara VanDerBeek.

Central to a current dialogue around the relationship between sculpture and photography, these artists share an interest in the materiality of images and the way the photographic image affects the way we experience form. The portfolio is published in an edition of 50. Each print is approximately 16 by 20 inches and is numbered and signed by the artist. All proceeds from the sale of this edition will directly support SculptureCenter's exhibition program. The portfolio will be launched at SculptureCenter's Gala on December 8.

Join us at our Gala on Wednesday, December 8, to honor artist Lynda Benglis and Peter Stevens, Director of the Estate of David Smith. The Gala is a festive event featuring cocktails, dinner, entertainment and, this year, will be held at the Metropolitan Pavillion (123 West 18th Street, Manhattan). Tickets start at $750 and all proceeds will benefit SculptureCenter's exhibition program.

A revolutionary figure, Lynda Benglis embodies the spirit of experimentation in contemporary sculpture that SculptureCenter promotes. Challenging conventions of gender and politics as well as pushing the boundaries of material and process, Lynda has been a monumental force in changing how sculpture is made, presented and viewed over the past 40 years. A retrospective of her work is currently on view at the RISD Museum in Providence and will be presented at the New Museum in February 2011.

Peter Stevens has been Director of the Estate of David Smith since 1979 and is acknowledged as the foremost authority on David Smith's work. He has curated numerous exhibitions and made significant contributions to the research and scholarship on the work furthering the understanding and impact of this major American sculptor. He has been an active and positive presence in the international sculpture community and served on SculptureCenter's Board of Trustees from 2004-2008.
