NBC/MSNBC's Katy Tur Visits With Trump Campaign Story, UNBELIEVABLE at Writers On A NE Stage

On Sunday, April 8, NBC News correspondent Katy Tur will take the stage at The Music Hall as part of the Writers on a New England Stage series to talk about her New York Times bestseller, UNBELIEVABLE: My Front-Row Seat to the Craziest Campaign in American History. The book follows her year and a half living out of a suitcase and reporting on Donald Trump's presidential campaign.

The 4pm event includes an author presentation followed by an onstage interview with Virginia Prescott, host of New Hampshire Public Radio's "Word of Mouth." It will be held at The Music Hall's Historic Theater at 28 Chestnut Street, in downtown Portsmouth, New Hampshire. For each 1-2 tickets sold, the purchase of a book voucher is required, which can be redeemed on event night for signed copies of UNBELIEVABLE.

"Katy Tur was a foreign correspondent working in London before being assigned to cover Donald Trump's presidential campaign -- a job her boss said would last six weeks tops. In her new book, UNBELIEVABLE, she gives readers a front-row seat on the action and insight into what it was like being a female journalist on the trail for 510 days," said Patricia Lynch, Executive Producer of The Music Hall. "I am honored to have her here at The Music Hall, and I hope others join me in hearing what this brave, award-winning journalist has to say."

Called "disgraceful," "third-rate," and "not nice" by Donald Trump, NBC News correspondent Katy Tur reported on - and took flak from - the most captivating and volatile presidential candidate in American history.

Katy Tur lived out of a suitcase for a year and a half following Trump around the country, visiting forty states with the candidate and making 3,800 live television reports. Tur documented Trump's inconsistencies, fact-checked his falsities, and called him out on his untruths. In return, Trump repeatedly singled Tur out, trying to charm her, intimidate her, and shame her. At one point, he got a crowd so riled up against Tur, that Secret Service agents had to walk her to her car.

Tur was part of the first women-led politics team in the history of network news, and through all the long nights, wild scoops, naked chauvinism, dodgy staffers, and fevered debates, no one had a better view than she did . She takes readers inside this no-rules world where reporters were spat on, demeaned, and discredited. UNBELIEVABLE: My Front-Row Seat to the Craziest Campaign in American History is a darkly comic, fascinatingly bizarre, and often scary story of how America sent a former reality TV show host to the White House.

Katy Tur is a correspondent for NBC News and an anchor for MSNBC. She is also the recipient of a 2017 Walter Cronkite Award for Excellence in Journalism. She lives in New York City.
