Oh baby, baby. Here comes Brittany... and Britney! During rehearsal, Kurt informs his fellow Glee Clubbers that a Facebook group has been created to entice New Directions to perform a Britney Spears song at the big assembly that week. The idea of performing Britney Spears's music does not sit well with Mr. Schuester, whose assignment for the week is the music of easy listening artists like Michael Bolton and Christopher Cross.

Also, the idea of performing Ms. Spears's music does not sit with Brittany, who feels overshadowed by the other Britney. After rehearsal, Will turns to Emma for advice on what he should do about the Britney Spears issue with the Glee Club, but their session is interrupted by Karl, Emma's dentist and new boyfriend (played by John Stamos). Upon meeting Karl, Will is suddenly overcome with jealousy and decides to have Karl look at the Glee Club's teeth to appeal to Emma.

Upon chewing cavity revealing gum, Rachel, Artie, and Brittany are revealed to have major amounts of cavities and need to have their teeth worked on. Brittany is the first one to make a visit to Karl's office, which ends up in an anesthesia-fueled performance of ‘I'm A Slave 4 U' featuring Brittany dressed in numerous outfits from Britney Spears's videos.

After her experience at Karl's office, Brittany suddenly feels confident enough to ask for solos and wants to perform Britney's music now, much to Kurt's joy and Mr. Schuster's dismay. Meanwhile, Finn is still struggling to deal with his cut from the football team, despite Rachel's joy that she'll no longer have to worry about Finn's safety on the field. After hearing about Brittany's experience at Karl's office, Santana demands that Karl give her some anesthesia and allow her to feel a similar feeling to Brittany's, which results in a duet to ‘Me Against The Music', featuring the first of many cameos by Ms. Spears herself.

As more people seem to be boarding the Britney music boat, Kurt and Mr. Schuester square off in rehearsal, ending with Mr. Schuester sending Kurt to the principal's office. Will makes a visit to Karl's office in which Karl tells Will he needs to calm down and let loose. Will leaves, running into Rachel in the waiting room, reading an unauthorized biography of Britney Spears. Rachel also ends up having a Britney-anesthesia fueled fantasy, to Britney's first hit, ‘Baby One More Time'.
After failing to impress Emma with a brand new car, Will is confronted by an angry Terri, who is upset with how Will is spending his money and warns Will that he will one day realize how much he loves her and come back to her.

After her trip to the dentist, Rachel begins dressing like Britney from the Baby One More Time video, much to Finn's annoyance. Following in the footsteps of Brittany and Rachel, Artie has his own Britney-fantasy in Karl's office singing ‘Stronger', while imagining being on the football team.
After talking to Finn in the locker room, Artie is overheard by Coach Bieste, who immediately places Artie and Finn on the team. Upon getting on the team, Artie tells the Glee Clubbers that he attributes his spot on the team to Britney Spears, sort of pushing Will away from being so anti-Britney.

Sue alerts Will to her discovery of Jacob Israel doing some very inappropriate things to images and audio of Rachel. Sue warns Will that performing Britney Spears music will only lead to bad things, but Will now seems more convinced that doing Britney is a good thing. Will finally gives into the Glee Clubbers and agrees to perform a Britney number at the assembly, but the catch being, he will perform with them. At the big assembly, the Glee Clubbers take on ‘Toxic' and incites a ‘sex riot', which is broken up by Sue pulling the fire alarm.

As the episode comes to a close, Rachel goes back to her normal look and becomes much more accepting to the idea of Finn being back on the football team, after testing his loyalty through Quinn. Rachel decides to return to the theme of easy listening and dedicates a song to Finn, ‘The Only Exception' by Paramore. Will returns the new car and finds himself still pining for Emma, while watching her leave school with Karl.
