AMNH Kicks Off One Step Beyond with Best Coast 10/14

The American Museum of Natural History kicks off One Step Beyond for its fifth season. During this ongoing party series, guests can dance in the Museum's Dorothy and Lewis B. Cullman Hall of the Universe to the sounds of the biggest names in techno, electronica, hip-hop, and indie rock.
Guests can also enjoy a complimentary screening of one of the breathtaking Hayden Planetarium Space Shows. October's feature is Journey to the Stars, narrated by Academy Award-winning actress Whoopi Goldberg. Journey to the Stars launches visitors through time and space to experience the life and death of the stars in our night sky. Each ticket also includes one pass to the Museum for future use.

WHO: Best Coast, headline (DJ set)
Best Coast was born when Los Angeles native Bethany Cosentino decided to return home after living in New York City. Quickly garnering praise from critics and listeners with the single "Sun Was High (So Was I)," Cosentino was approached by UK-based label Blackest Rainbow, who released her now sold-out tape "Where the Boys Are." Also in the works are two new 7-inch singles, one being released by San Diego-based Art Fag Recordings, and the other, the debut release from brand-new Brooklyn label Group Tightener. Beast Coast recently released the video for "Our Deal," directed by Drew Barrymore.

Max Tannone, support
New York City resident Max Tannone has created many unique remix albums, including one combining the sounds of rap king Jay-Z with British rockers Radiohead in "Jadiohead," followed by a remix for the Beastie Boys promoting the re-release of their seminal "Check You Head" album. Tannone also created "Mos Dub," which merges Brooklyn legend Mos Def with reggae masters like King Tubby and Lee "Scratch" Perry, and his album "Ghostfunk" mixes rapper Ghostface Killah with vintage African funk and rock music.

WHERE: American Museum of Natural History. Guests should enter through the Weston Pavilion entrance on Columbus Avenue at 79th Street.

ADMISSION: Admission to One Step Beyond is $25. Guests must be 21 and present valid ID.
A beer and wine cash bar is available.
