A generous live-theatre patron is offering a total of $10,000 to be shared among a number of Albuquerque-area non-profit theatre groups. The gifts can be used toward production costs, projects that upgrade a venue or performance space, or for office equipment and supplies. The Albuquerque Theatre Guild (ATG) will act as go-between for the donor, who wishes to remain anonymous.
"This astounding donation to the local theatre community is both unexpected and welcome," says Ray Orley, President of the ATG. "The donor will consider requests from any Albuquerque-area non-profit theatre group, whether they are members of the ATG or not. The ATG is honored to have been chosen as the conduit between applicants and the donor in order to preserve the anonymity of the donor." Complete application criteria are available at www.abqtheatre.org (any organization wishing to apply should first read the full instructions there). Requests must be made in writing (on letterhead if available), postmarked by September 30, 2011, and mailed to:WISH LISTMore theatrical performances take place every weekend here in Albuquerque than in any other U.S. city of its size. Our mission is to promote public awareness of theatre in the greater Albuquerque area, to encourage the growth of theatre audiences, to foster cooperation and collaboration among the member organizations, and to facilitate and assist the work of individual members involved in all aspects of theatrical production.
