A generous live-theatre patron is offering a total of $10,000 to be shared among a number of Albuquerque-area non-profit theatre groups. The gifts can be used toward production costs, projects that upgrade a venue or performance space, or for office equipment and supplies. The Albuquerque Theatre Guild (ATG) will act as go-between for the donor, who wishes to remain anonymous.

"This astounding donation to the local theatre community is both unexpected and welcome," says Ray Orley, President of the ATG. "The donor will consider requests from any Albuquerque-area non-profit theatre group, whether they are members of the ATG or not. The ATG is honored to have been chosen as the conduit between applicants and the donor in order to preserve the anonymity of the donor."

Complete application criteria are available at www.abqtheatre.org (any organization wishing to apply should first read the full instructions there). Requests must be made in writing (on letterhead if available), postmarked by September 30, 2011, and mailed to:

Grants will not be awarded for acting lessons, salaries, transportation costs, or any other expenses payable to or incurred by an individual. No portion of the grant may be used, directly or indirectly, for religious or political purposes.

Late applications will not be considered. The selection of projects funded is at the sole discretion of the donor, and the donor's selections are final. All funds will be disbursed by December 31, 2011. The Albuquerque Theatre Guild is acting solely as a facilitator in this matter and is not responsible in any way for the decisions on applications.
