Neil Sedaka "Scores" Big Time at the Opening Night of Breaking Up Is Hard To Do.

Neil Sedaka was rockin' and rollin' with a live performance at a street party following the opening night of his new musical Breaking Up Is Hard To Do at Actors' Playhouse at the Miracle Theatre. Sedaka performed hits like "Laughter in the Rain", "Happy Birthday Sweet Sixteen," and "Calendar Girl" on a Steinway Grand Piano to an appreciative crowd of 600 guests attending the VIP Opening Night Gala of Breaking Up Is Hard To Do Friday, January 27, 2006.

Majic 102.7 was live on the scene interviewing guests and doing live ticket giveaways as they walked down the red carpet to enter the Miracle Theatre. An all night open bar sponsored by Bacardi, U.S.A. was complimented and greeted guests as they arrived with a post show dinner sponsored by Special Events Catering by Les. Hosts Barbara S. Stein, Executive Producing Director of Actors' Playhouse, and Chairman of the Board Dr. Lawrence E. Stein greeted guests and sponsors of the new musical including Gabe and Diana Castrillon of the Hyatt Regency Coral Gables, Les and Susan Oppenheim of Catering by Les, Alex Villoch of the Miami Herald, Commissioners Katy Sorensen and Sally Heyman, Representative Rene Garcia, Mayor John Cosgrove of Palmetto Bay, and Coconut Grove Councilman Martin Zilber, also Vice Chair of the Cultural Affairs Council. Other guests included NBC6 anchors Kelly Craig and Bob Mayer, Coral Gables City Manager David and Linda Brown, Ocean Bank's Mariano and Patty Fernandez, Miami-Dade County School Board members Dr. Marta Perez, and Ana Rivas Logan, Steven and Diana Vogel of American Express, Baptist Health South Florida's Phyllis Oeters, Mass Media Enterprises Elena Carpenter, and Roy and Roslyn Gonas. Artistic Director David Arisco was on hand with wife Maureen to greet New York producers Aaron Harnick, David Broser, Eric Brown, and Melinda Pinto. Also attending was Director Gordon Greenberg, conceiver of Breaking Up Is Hard To Do, costume designer Thom Heyer, Set Designer Jesse Poleshuck, and casting agent Stephanie Klapper. Ms. Stein dawned a beautiful gown designed by Dario Almiron.

Breaking Up Is Hard To Do will be playing at the Miracle Theatre, 280 Miracle Mile in Coral Gables through February 12, 2006. Performances are Wednesday-Saturday at 8pm and Sunday at 2pm. Tickets may be purchased through the box office at 305-444-9293, Ticketmaster, and on line at www.actorsplayhouse.org . Tickets are $37.50 for weeknight shows and matinees, and $45 for Friday and Saturday evenings. The theatre offers a 10 percent senior discount rate the day of performance and $15 student rush tickets 15 minutes prior to curtain, with identification. All discounts are based on availability and exclude Saturday performances and Sunday matinees. Group rates are available for 15 or more.
