Photo Flash: Chita Rivera Visits Las Vegas 'Phantom'

The legendary Chita Rivera (A Dancer's Life, Chicago, West Side Story) recently visited the cast of Phantom - The Las Vegas Spectacular backstage!
 
"After celebrating 501 performances and their first Anniversary on The Strip, the cast and crew of Phantom – The Las Vegas Spectacular were treated to a wonderful surprise on Thursday, June 21 as the vivacious and sexy Rivera was in the audience at the 7 p.m. performance.   The legendary actress, singer and dancer, also went backstage to congratulate the cast and crew for a tremendously successful first year and to the say hello to fellow cast member, Anthony Crivello.  Rivera and Crivello starred together in the original cast of Kiss of the Spider Woman, both receiving the prestigious Tony Award for their performances," state press notes.

Since last June, Phantom - The Las Vegas Spectacular has been an audience hit and was named number one show of the year by the Las Vegas Review-Journal.  Phantom is produced by The Really Useful Theatre Company Inc. and BASE Entertainment.  It stars Crivello and Brent Barrett, who alternate in the role of the Phantom, and Kristi Holden and Elizabeth Loyacano, who alternate in the role of Christine.  Holden recently replaced Sierra Boggess, who will star in Broadway's The Little Mermaid.

The Phantom of the Opera features music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, lyrics by Charles Hart, additional lyrics by Richard Stilgoe, book by Richard Stilgoe and Andrew Lloyd Webber and orchestrations by David Cullen and Andrew Lloyd Webber. It was originally produced by Cameron Mackintosh and The Really Useful Theatre Company, Inc.
