Broadway's favorite prodigal son, Jason Graae, currently getting glowing notices for playing the dying bookkeeper in "Grand Hotel" in Los Angeles, returns to NY for a two week engagement at The Hideaway Room at Helen's, 169 Eighth Avenue (between 18-19th Streets), beginning December 6th through the 18th.  The evening of music and comedy called "COUP DE GRAAE!" recently earned raves at The Plush Room in San Francisco and at The Cinegrill in LA.  The show features Alex Rybeck as Musical Director plus Surprise Guests.

COUP DE GRAAE! includes songs and stories about Rodgers & Hart, Jerry Herman and the Bergmans, plus his steadfast refusal to sing any Sondheim.  He also salutes his lucrative voice over career as the heart and soul of
Western Union Moneygrams.  From his opening number, brazenly glad-handing the audience to his Applause-filled closing, Jason is the compleat entertainer, giddy, irreverent, mischievous and moving, often at the same time.  The LA Times described the evening as 'an eclectic banquet of standards, show tunes, pop songs, incisive wit, easygoing charm and a humorous dessert featuring his tale as the voice of 'Lucky the Leprechaun'."

Best-known to theatre audiences for his Broadway appearances in A GRAND NIGHT FOR SINGING, FALSETTOS, STARDUST, SNOOPY and DO BLACK PATENT LEATHER SHOES REALLY REFLECT UP? and as one of the original Plaids in FOREVER PLAID, Jason received a Drama Desk nomination for HELLO MUDDAH, HELLO FADDUH.  He has been seen on HBO's "Six Feet Under,"  Showtime's "Rude Awakening" with Lynn Redgrave; appeared on many sitcoms including 'Friends' and 'Frasier'; made his debut at the Metropolitan Opera in "Everlast" and sang with the Washington National Opera, Los Angeles Opera and the Boston Pops; and can be seen in several PBS specials.  In LA Jason hung upside down for a year playing Houdini in RAGTIME and won the Ovation Award for FORBIDDEN BROADWAY Y2KLA!, plus played twins with David Hyde Pierce in the Reprise production of THE BOYS FROM SYRACUSE.  In addition to being heard on 35 original cast albums and studio CDs, Jason has recorded two solo CDs: YOU'RE NEVER FULLY DRESSED WITHOUT A SMILE and Jason Graae LIVE AT THE CINEGRILL.

The performance schedule for COUP DE GRAAE! from December 6th through the 18th is Monday to Saturday at with no performances Tuesdays or Wednesdays.  There is a $25 cover and a two drink minimum.
