The Washington Pavilion Kirby Science Discovery Center (KSDC) announced today that it will be opening a new area on the science center's 4th floor on Friday, December 23, where kids can let their imagination take over with the addition of a 300-piece Imagination Playground Block and Connector set.

These blue blocks create a unique play area that encourages children to enjoy an endless variety of play including construction, pretend play, role-playing and inventing their own games. It's this type play that experts say is critical to children's intellectual, social, physical and emotional development.

Erica Lacey, Kirby Science Discovery Center Director, is excited for the new addition. "We're grateful for the Henry Carlson Company and their generous 3 year committed sponsorship of the Imagination Playground," said Lacey. "The unique blocks are going to be so much fun. People of all ages can participate in activities that let their creativity go wild as they build anything from bugs to robots to rollercoasters and more. If they can think of it, kids can build it with these blocks. " Lacey continued.

Created by architect and designer David Rockwell and the Rockwell Group, Imagination Playground enabLes Children to play, dream, build, and explore endless possibilities. As well, Imagination Playground is manufactured in the USA and the product is biodegradable and recyclable.

The Imagination Playground, sponsored by Henry Carlson Company, opens to the public on Friday, December 23 at 10 a.m.
