The Huntington has announced the casting and creative team for the highly anticipated revival of August Wilson’s Joe Turner’s Come and Gone, directed by Lili-Anne Brown. The Metropolitan Ensemble Theatre, Inc. has announced its 18th season. MET, renown for producing Masterwork and Contemporary Classics, will present three plays and two musicals for the 2022-2023 season.

Kings Theatre has announced that vocal powerhouse Fantasia will perform live, along with Tamar Braxton, in Brooklyn, NY presented by SJ Presents and Black Promoters Collective on November 11, 2022.

In 2007, Fantasia landed the coveted role of Celie in Broadway’s The Color Purple, which she will be reprising for the upcoming film adaption. Fantasia returned to Broadway in 2013 as the first celebrity engagement in After Midnight, a musical that celebrated Harlem’s iconic Cotton Club during the Harlem Renaissance in the 1920’s and 1930’s.

Hosted by recent EGOT winner Jennifer Hudson, the new talk series has set the Daytime Emmy-winning team of Mary Connelly, Andy Lassner and Corey Palent (“The Ellen DeGeneres Show”) as executive producers and showrunners. Jennifer Hudson, Lisa Kasteler Calio, Graehme Morphy and Walter Williams III will also executive produce.
