The Full Monty Musical, book by Terrence McNally, music and lyrics by David Yazbek, coming to Biddeford's City Theater today, July 11th-27th, tells the story of Jerry Lukowski, an unemployed steel worker, too proud to take entry-level work, who along with his best pal, Dave Bukatinski, sneaks into a Chippendales performance, to spy on Dave's wife, Georgie (Ashley Christie, Steep Falls), where they hatch a get-rich-quick scheme, which relies on their ability to outdo the Chippendales at their own game... with a little help from Keno, a discontented Chippendale dancer (Brandon O'Roak, S. Portland), Jeannette (Gretchen Wood, Shapleigh), a 'very-retired' music director, and, quite frankly, the last person they ever thought they would ask for help! (more...)

Today in 2011, the first Broadway revival of Master Class opened at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre, where it ran for 67 performances. Master Class is a play by Terrence McNally, which opened on Broadway on November 15, 1995 at the John Golden Theatre, where it ran for 598 performances. The original cast included Zoe Caldwell, Audra McDonald, Karen Kay Cody, David Loud, and Jay Hunter Morris. Caldwell and McDonald won Tony Awards for their performances in 1996. Tyne Daly starred as Callas in a summer 2011 revival of the play at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre. (more...)

New York Stage and Film and Vassar College, this summer celebrating the 30th year of their Powerhouse Theater collaboration, announced that Golden Globe and Emmy Award winner Kyra Sedgwick will lead the cast of Academy Award and Tony Award winner John Patrick Shanley's new play The Danish Widow, which will premiere July 16-27, 2014 at Hallie Flanagan-Davis Powerhouse Theater at Vassar College.
