3rd Act Theatre Company, a 501(c)3 new non-profit theatre company in Oklahoma City, will announce their second season's theme, POWER, and shows to be performed, via a livestream event on Facebook Saturday, March 28, 2020 at 7 p.m. CT. 3rd Act artists will reflect on the soon-to-be completed first season, including the currently postponed production of Kim Carney's Moonglow, and their home space at The Shoppes at Northpark.

Artistic Director Devon Carney today announced the choreographers chosen for New Moves, a unique performance event designed to search out, develop and showcase emerging choreographers, both from the national dance scene as well as locally within Kansas City Ballet. New provides time and space for choreographers to create world premiere works with accomplished professional dancers. New Moves features the works of choreographers Melissa Gelfin, Rasta Thomas, Melody Mennite, KCB Company Ballet Master Parrish Maynard and Dancers Christopher Costantini, Emily Mistretta, Courtney Nitting and James Kirby Rogers.

Noted author and scholar Lorene Cary, whose first novel, The Price of a Child, was selected in 2003 as the inaugural One Book, One Philadelphia, has received rave reviews for the world premiere of her play, MY GENERAL TUBMAN, at Philadelphia's Arden Theatre Company. Due to popular demand, the work will now run at the Arden's Arcadia Stage through March 15, 2020. This is the second extension of the production.

a??Huntington Theatre Companya??announces a first-ever a?oePink Outa?? performance of The Second City's She the People: Girlfriends' Guide to Sisters Doing it for Themselves in partnership with The Ellie Fund, a breast cancer support organization. The a?oePink Outa?? performance will take place on Sunday, February 23 at 6PM at the Calderwood Pavilion at the BCA (527 Tremont St. Boston). A portion of the proceeds of ticket sales will go to The Ellie Fund's Healing Together Patient and Family Care Program. All attendees of the a?oePink Outa?? performance are encouraged to wear pink to show support for breast cancer patients and survivors. Tickets can be purchased online, by phone or in person at ticketing services by providing the promo code PINKOUT.

BWW Review: NASHVILLE'S NUTCRACKER at Tennessee Performing Arts Center

Artistic Director Paul Vasterling has set Nashville's Nutcracker with the Nashville Symphony at the 1897 Tennessee Centennial Exposition. Here, Drosselmeyer introduces Clara to the magical imagination and diversity of Nashville. In the ballet's opening, Clara sees a Nutcracker doll made by a German Toy Maker. Following the expo at Centennial Park, Vasterling creates a snowy scene of figure skating at Shelby Bottoms as partygoers head towards the Stahlbaum home. Among other Nashville nuances, Vasterling expands the battle scene to include American Infantry, Native American Soldiers, and Frontier Soldiers, all working together to defeat the Mouse King. The Sugar Plum Fairy holds court in the Parthenon Garden as a final homage to Nashville's branding as the “Athens of the South.'
