A Judy Garland Concert with Joey Luft features Judy Garland's son Joey Luft making a rare public appearance (July 10-13) followed by PLAYHOUSE ROCKS! with Tony Nominee Powerhouse MARY BRIDGET DAVIES, a Tony Award nominee for A Night With Janis Joplin which was presented last season at The Pasadena Playhouse and was the venue's highest grossing show in its history (July 17-20). The month will end with Henson Alternative's PUPPET UP! - UNCENSORED created by award-winning director, producer, and writer Brian Henson and actor and improvisational guru Patrick Bristow with The Jim Henson Company's renowned puppeteers (July 24-26). The 2014 Marin County Fair, themed The Happiest Fair On Earth, will be the place to be over July 4th weekend with more family fun than ever before! The fair, which attracts more than 120,000 attendees over its five day run, takes place at the Marin County Fairgrounds in San Rafael, Wednesday, July 2 through Sunday, July 6. Hours are 11am to 11pm daily with headline concerts each day featuring some of Marin County's beloved locals - Huey Lewis and the News, Night Ranger, and Elvin Bishop (full schedule below.) The Fair is a one-price gate. Admission includes concerts, exhibits, entertainment, nightly fireworks and 28 free carnival rides! "Cello goddess" (The New Yorker) Maya Beiser releases her next album Uncovered on August 26, 2014 on the Innova label, followed by aUS tour in September 2014 to cities including New York, Boston, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and more (tour schedule to be announced in early July). Uncovered is an album of startling classic rock tunes, re-imagined and re-contextualized, in stunningly moving performances by Maya Beiser. A cover tune can be an homage to the original, but these "uncovers," in new arrangements by Evan Ziporyn, attempt to do more - to evoke the unprecedented power of the music of Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, Nirvana, Janis Joplin, Howlin' Wolf, King Crimson, Muddy Waters, and AC/DC as musical masterpieces and as totems of our collective consciousness.
