Abigail Brooks Lehrer (Abby Lehrer) is from Castle Rock Colorado, she is a singer and songwriter, and TikTok star. She competed on American Idol Season 20 and her audition aired last weekend. She recently graduated from the Institute for American Musical Theatre. She currently resides in New York City and works in a cafe. When the cafe is empty she sings with a broom in hand as her microphone. She also used the broom for her microphone at her audition. She did score the golden ticket to Hollywood!

Nelson Riddle, the legendary arranger/orchestrator/composer is largely responsible for what we think of as the sound of The Great American Songbook. His arrangements and orchestrations for artists like Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Peggy Lee, Nat King Cole Dean Martin, Judy Garland, Johnny Mathis, Rosemary Clooney, and Doris Day, created for the Capitol label defined the sound of the 40s, 50s, and 60s. He is responsible for resuscitating Sinatra’s career and turning him into the legend he became. Riddle is the creator of the “Rat Pack” sound, composing scores for Robin and the Seven Hoods and Ocean’s 11 among dozens of other films. He won an Oscar for the score of 1974’s The Great Gatsby in addition to 3 Grammy awards, two of them for his album collaborations with Linda Ronstadt that revived his extraordinary career shortly before his death in 1985. It’s hard to overestimate his importance to American popular music.

When it comes to the vagaries of modern urban romance, no team has written more succinctly or prolifically than Marcy Heisler and Zina Goldrich. Since they first met in a workshop in 1992, they have created a steady stream of musical gems that audiences and actors alike adore. Their off-Broadway musical Dear Edwina was nominated for a Drama Desk award. Their Junie B. Jones is a staple of youth theatres around America. Their musical based on the Drew Barrymore film Ever After, has had one of the most anticipated development periods since it made its premiere at Paper Mill in 2015. They write about love and loss and joy and heartbreak so truthfully they are like the Nora Ephron of musical theatre.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel: Season Four (Music From The Amazon Series) features original songs 'They Came, They Danced,' 'City Lights,' and 'Maybe Monica'—written for the series by Thomas Mizer and Curtis Moore as well as compositions by Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, Leonard Bernstein/Betty Comden/Adolf Green, George Gershwin and Ira Gershwin.

In the third year of Ballet Co.Laboratory's Laboratory II: Emerging Choreographer Program, our capital city's ballet company and school is raising the curtain on their first production created specifically for their youngest audience members – toddlers and preschoolers.

Birdland Jazz Club will present powerhouse cabaret veteran, award-winning singer, and theatre favorite Ann Kittredge for an encore performance of her widely acclaimed show Movie Nite, supported by her musical director Alex Rybeck on piano and Sean Harkness on guitar, in The Birdland Theater (315 West 44th Street) on Sunday, February 27, 2022 @ 7pm.

Nominees for the inaugural OC Theatre Awards were announced on Saturday, January 22, 2022 during OC Theatre Guild’s annual membership meeting. The awards ceremony has been scheduled for the evening of Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at the outdoor amphitheater of the Muckenthaler Cultural Center in Fullerton.

Hailed as the greatest singer-songwriter when her landmark album “Tapestry” was released in 1971. Fifty years on, it’s timely that we come together and be wowed by the intensity and vigour of Carole King.

In 1944, MGM debuted a new family classic for the ages, the beloved movie musical, Meet Me In St. Louis. Starring Judy Garland, the film plays host to numerous classic songs including its title ditty, 'The Trolley Song,' and 'The Boy Next Door,' but out of all the gems that make up its score, no song has had more impact than, 'Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas.' 

Ria Jones is known for her roles in musicals, most recently Sunset Boulevard at Leicester Curve and Gypsy at Royal Exchange, Manchester. She now makes her straight play debut in the Menier Chocolate Factory’s revival of Alan Bennett’s Habeas Corpus. We spoke with Jones about the show.
