BroadwaySpotted's Next Big Star Competition Finalists Sing Live at Davenport Theatre Tonight

After a national online search, the votes have been tallied and the top 10 finalists for BroadwaySpotted's Next Big Star have been announced. The 10 finalists will compete for the title of BroadwaySpotted's Next Big Star live at The Davenport Theatre (354 West 45 Street New York, NY 10036) tonight, May 22nd, 2014 at 7PM. The winner will be determined by a panel of industry judges and popular audience vote. Industry judges include Tony Award winning Producer Ken Davenport (Kinky Boots, Godspell), casting director Cesar Rocha (C.S.A, Telsey + Company), composer/lyricist Georgia Stitt (This Ordinary Today), and acclaimed NYC voice teacher Robert Sussuma; rock audition guru Sheri Sanders (Rock The Audition) will host the evening. The cast of Gerard Alessandrini's FORBIDDEN BROADWAY COMES OUT SWINGING! records the original cast CD for DRG Records today at Avatar Studios. Produced by Hugh Fordin, the release date is soon to be announced. This CD marks Forbidden Broadway's 12th cast recording with DRG Records. Featured on the original cast recording are cast members Carter Calvert, Scott Richard Foster, Mia Gentile and Marcus Stevens, with David Caldwell on piano. The show is currently playing at the Davenport Theatre (354 West 45th Street - between 8th and 9th Avenues). George Street Playhouse and Artistic Director David Saint have announced casting for the opening production for the venerable theatre's fortieth season. Gettin' The Band Back Together (formerly titled Garage Band) is a rockin' valentine to the Garden State, and will be directed by Tony Award-winner John Rando - who also helmed The Toxic Avenger in New Brunswick (and New York) a few seasons back. Gettin' The Band Back Together will rock the house beginning Tuesday, September 24 and continue through Sunday, October 27. Opening night is set for Today, October 4. Gettin' The Band Back Together is performed by special arrangement with Davenport Theatrical Enterprises, Inc. and Roy Putrino. (more...)
