The gloves are off! One of the most highly anticipated new shows of the season, Gerard Alessandrini's FORBIDDEN BROADWAY COMES OUT SWINGING! begins previews Monday, March 17th at the newly refurbished Davenport Theatre (354 West 45th Street - between 8th and 9th Avenue). The show is set to open on Sunday, May 4th. This up-to-the-minute new edition will include Alessandrini's takes on Kinky Boots, Matilda, Rocky, Cabaret, The Bridges of Madison County, Aladdin, Pippin, the turntable-less Les Miz, Motown, The Sound of Music Live! and Bullets Over Broadway, among others. George Street Playhouse and Artistic Director David Saint have announced casting for the opening production for the venerable theatre's fortieth season. Gettin' The Band Back Together (formerly titled Garage Band) is a rockin' valentine to the Garden State, and will be directed by Tony Award-winner John Rando - who also helmed The Toxic Avenger in New Brunswick (and New York) a few seasons back. Gettin' The Band Back Together will rock the house beginning Tuesday, September 24 and continue through Sunday, October 27. Opening night is set for Friday, October 4. Gettin' The Band Back Together is performed by special arrangement with Davenport Theatrical Enterprises, Inc. and Roy Putrino.

Davenport Theatrical Enterprises has launched a new Broadway industry initiative geared toward fostering the next generation of Broadway producers.

Ken Davenport of Davenport Theatrical Enterprises presented a reading of the new play Schooled, written by Lisa Lewis and directed by Jules Ochoa, as part of the Davenport Developmental Reading Series. Schooled stars Tony nominee Peter Friedman (Playwrights Horizon's Circle Mirror Transformation), Sarah Steele (Lincoln Center Theatre/LCT3's Slowgirl), Harry Zittel (Lincoln Center Theatre/LCT3's All-American) and Zoe Winters (Lincoln Center Theatre/LCT3's 4000 Miles). The reading took place on Monday, December 3rd at The Davenport Studios, located at 250 West 49th Street, Suite 304, in New York City. Check out photos from the reading below!

On Thursday, December 13, the upcoming musical stage adaptation of Richard Matheson's acclaimed novel and Universal Pictures film SOMEWHERE IN TIME will be presented at a private industry reading in midtown Manhattan.
