The Drama League (Gabriel Stelian-Shanks, Executive Artistic Director) today announced the 2019 Drama League Awards Nominees for Outstanding Production of a Play, Outstanding Revival of a Play, Outstanding Production of a Musical, Outstanding Revival of a Musical, and the much-coveted Distinguished Performance Award. Put together two super actor/singers to perform The Songs Of Kander & Ebb and it's like Mantle and Maris hitting back to back homers in the world series. Oops, I promised myself I would avoid the Baseball references, however watching Haley Swindal you cannot help but wonder how this enormously talented lady became such an exciting entertainer coming from a sports/business family. Tony Award Winner Victoria Clark (The Light in the Piazza) will direct a staged reading of "Newton's Cradle," a new musical by mother-and-son writing team Kim Saunders and Heath Saunders.

Producers Sonia Friedman Productions and Neal Street Productions have just announced initial casting for the Broadway engagement of Jez Butterworth's The Ferryman, which will feature most of the play's acclaimed London cast members on the Broadway stage.

Just last night, the Drama League honored Steve Martin - whose prolific body of work has earned him an Academy Award, five Grammy Awards, an Emmy, the Mark Twain Award, and the Kennedy Center Honors - at its fall gala at The Plaza (768 Fifth Avenue).
