    The 2015 Shaw Festival in Niagara-on-the-Lake Ontario is shaping up to be a great mix of Shavian classics, an American musical, Canadian premieres and cutting edge modern day drama. Artistic Director Jackie Maxwell will be leaving after the 2016 Season and is working hard to program an uniquely balanced season, while also hoping to fulfill all of her artistic desires before her tenure ends. The company mandate is: ' The Shaw Festival is a theatre company inspired by the work of Bernard Shaw. We produce plays from and about his era and contemporary plays that share Shaw's provocative exploration of society and celebration of humanity.' (more...)

    Gingold Theatrical Group's PROJECT SHAW just presented the 1912 one-act comedy OVERRULED, last night at Symphony Space's Leonard Nimoy Thalia Theatre (2895 Broadway at 95th St.). Overruled starred Robert Cuccioli (Mr. Lunn), Heidi Armbruster(Mrs. Lunn), Alison Cimmet (Mrs. Juno), Dan Butler (Mr. Juno), in which two couples are determined to find romance...but not with each other.     The Desert Rose Playhouse, in Rancho Mirage, California, is presenting yet another fine production - its last show for the 2014-15 season. Douglas Carter Beane's THE LITTLE DOG LAUGHED is an edgy comedy which raises serious questions and which contains serious moments, especially in the second act. It is well-acted and superbly staged. I recommend this show for adults with one caveat: It contains brief moments of full frontal male nudity, and is therefore not suitable for everyone. (more...)
