City Parks Foundation has announced that the CityParks PuppetMobile free and family friendly original marionette production, Little Red's Hood, will resume this summer, beginning in May through October. Traveling to all five boroughs in New York City, Little Red’s Hood is a fresh retelling of the celebrated 'Little Red Riding Hood' tale updated with a modern sensibility that will appeal to children growing up in New York City and will be offered in English, Spanish and Mandarin in select locations. A full list of dates, shows and times for the 80+ CityParks PuppetMobile performances from May through August can be found below and at cityparksfoundation.org/puppetmobile. Additional performances in September and October will be released at a later date.

City Parks Foundation's Swedish Cottage Marionette Theatre has announced a special, in person, open house presented in conjunction with Open House New York. Taking place this weekend, October 16 & 17, the cottage will open its doors to the public from 10AM - 3PM, offering limited guided tours of the space with two short performances at 11AM and 1PM on both Saturday and Sunday. 

This adults-only puppet show will include various marionettes, masks, hand puppets, object theater, burlesque puppets, giant puppets, and more.

City Parks Foundation's Swedish Cottage Marionette Theatre is proud to announce a virtual open house presented with Open House New York. Taking place on October 17 & 18, the open house will offer an in-depth look into the history of the theatre and its puppeteers, followed by 'Puppet Time' a family-friendly, first-ever Puppet Slam showcase.

Wake Up, Daisy! - an original story and marionette production produced by City Parks Foundation - will be making its debut at the Swedish Cottage Marionette Theatre in Central Park. This original take on Sleeping Beauty is set on New York City's Upper West Side and is perfect for today's modern age, teaching the lessons of friendship, courage and female empowerment. Ideal for families with young children, this show kicks off the new spring season with puppetry and original music beginning March 24 and running through September 20, 2020. The production is recommended for families with children ages 3 - 8.

Yeti, Set, Snow! an original story and marionette production produced by the City Parks Foundation - has been captivating the hearts of audience members both young and old this winter in Central Park. Now, families can join together for an interactive experience with the show during one of the Puppet Building Workshops being held at the Swedish Cottage Marionette Theatre each month. Parents and their children will be able to build felt hand and finger puppets of their favorite characters from the show - Pascetti the Yeti and Tinsel Kitty.

A classic children's fairy tale with a twist, Puss in Boots is the story of two friends - Fergus Mundingle and his sly cat Puss - who are tired of their dull and penniless lifestyle. Looking for a change, Puss dons a snazzy pair of boots and sets off on a magical journey, proving himself a caring friend willing to help at any cost.

The Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry at the University of Connecticut will celebrate the rich world of African American puppetry in the United States with a four-day series of performances, presentations, discussions, film screenings, and workshops on Feb. 7 to 10, 2019 in Hartford and Storrs.
