Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center to Stage GUYS AND DOLLS, 5/21-6/14

Tickets are already flying like loaded dice, as theater fans snatch up seats for Guys and Dolls, which will run May 21-June 14 at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center.

Based on the classic stories of Damon Runyon, Guys and Dolls premiered on Broadway in 1950, and has gone on to win nine Tony Awards and the Golden Globe for Best Movie for the hit 1955 film adaptation starring Marlon Brando and Frank Sinatra. Boasting an unlikely love story, unforgettable characters, hilarious situations and Frank Loesser's timeless score, featuring such hit numbers as "Luck Be a Lady" and "Sit Down, You're Rockin' the Boat," Guys and Dolls has been called "the perfect musical," a show that "defines Broadway Dazzle."

The Fine Arts Center will pull out all the stops in producing this popular musical comedy in our usual grand tradition, recreating Manhattan (and Havana) of the 1930s on our stage. Scott RC Levy directs the show, which stars Jennifer DeDominici (Mary Poppins), Amy Sue Hardy (The Drowsy Chaperone), Nathan Halvorson and Cory Moosman (The Producers).

The show begins with a preview night on May 21 at 7:30p, officially opens on May 22, and runs Thursdays through Saturdays at 7:30p and Saturday and Sundays at 2p, through June 14. Jennifer DeDominici enjoys a career spanning musical theater, opera and concert work. Some of her favorite roles: The title roles in Mary Poppins and Carmen, Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia, Hänsel in Hänsel und Gretel, Siebel in Faust, 3rd Secretary in Nixon in China (available on the Naxos label), Maria in The Sound of Music, Sarah Brown in Guys and Dolls, Aldonza in Man of La Mancha, Nellie Forbush in South Pacific, and Claudia in Nine. Other career highlights: soloist with the Cleveland Pops, Colorado Springs Philharmonic, and Chamber Orchestra of the Springs; various roles with Opera Colorado; Santa Fe Opera's Apprentice Artist Program; EPCASO in Oderzo, Italy; first-place winner of the Denver Lyric Opera Guild Auditions; NATS Singer of the Year; and a four-time Regional Finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. Upcoming: Nixon In China with San Diego Opera and guest soloist with the Fresno Philharmonic.

Amy Sue Hardy has been a regular at the FAC, starring in such shows as Drowsy Chaperone (Drowsy - Best Actress nominee - BroadwayWorld.com - Denver), Play It Again, Sam (Nancy), Crazy for You (Polly), Sweet Charity (Charity), Grease (Sandy), Damn Yankees (Lola), Pirates of Pen. (Mabel-Denver Post Ovation Nominee) & Chicago (Roxie-Gazette & PPAC Awards). Regional Credits: CS Philharmonic, Broadmoor Pops & Theatreworks. She is a billboard charted recording artist signed to Hollywood Records who is fortunate to have worked with Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera, Wayne Brady, Queen Latifah & Ryan Seacrest. Nathan Halvorson (Director & Choreographer/Associate Dir. of Performing Arts) has worked in a variety of capacities at Lincoln Center Theatre, NY Theatre Workshop, Circle in the Square, The University of Notre Dame, Expanded Arts, SAGE Theatre Company, The NY International Fringe Festival, The Mint Theatre, Theatreworks USA, Carousel Music Theatre, Iowa Summer Rep and many others. He was a founding member and Artistic Director of The Key Theatre, an off-off Broadway theatre company in NYC for eight years. He spent five years as the Resident Director of The Penobscot Theatre in Bangor, Maine, and was the Interim Artistic Director through January 2012. He is a member of Actor's Equity and The Lincoln Center Director's Lab. Nathan recently completed his MFA in Theatre Directing from The University of Iowa. At The FAC, he has directed and choreographed Tilly the Trickster, Dracula, Jacques Brel, Pinkalicous,Forever Plaid and the Youth Rep productions of Pippin, As Thousands Cheer and Applause.

Cory Moosman has been seen as Max Bialystock in The Producers, Seymour in Little Shop of Horrors, and John Adams in 1776. Other FAC shows include The Full Monty, Fuddy Meers, Sweeney Todd, 1940's Radio Hour, Complete History and Complete Works. His directing credits include the FAC's hit productions of Drowsy Chaperone, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and Beauty and the Beast. He is the creator of WYNOT Radio Theatre, an "old time radio" parody group.
