A grant of $211,800 has been awarded by the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving to TheaterWorks at 233 Pearl Street in downtown Hartford to support a marketing and communications director. The grant will be disbursed over a three-year period.

Rob Ruggiero, TheaterWorks' Producing Artistic Director, said "I am grateful for both the generous award, which will support the theater's capacity building efforts and also for the Hartford Foundation's confidence and commitment to the theater."

This grant is made possible, in part, by the generosity of the Edith W. and John Davis Murphy Fund at the Hartford Foundation. TheaterWorks has been producing professional theater in downtown Hartford for 28 years. Since its founding in 1985, the company has produced over 130 plays and presents approximately 225 performances per season. With nearly 5,000 subscribers, TheaterWorks is a trusted, committed cultural institution in downtown Hartford.

The Hartford Foundation for Public Giving is the community foundation for the 29-town Greater Hartford region. It is dedicated to putting philanthropy into action to create lasting solutions that result in vibrant communities within Greater Hartford.

The Foundation receives gifts from thousands of generous individuals, families, and organizations, and in 2013 awarded grants of more than $29 million to a broad range of area nonprofits. For more information, go to www.hfpg.org or call 860.548.1888.
